The last year in the garden was fascinating and packed with activity. We have seen our compound evolve and grow, and the community expands and becomes stronger. For example, volunteers helped prepare the tent for the winter and built a large, beautiful greenhouse. The day-to-day activities included a weekly visit by a group of students from the Vilkomich school, meetings for the general public and countless classes, Shabbat receptions, music events, and even dance parties. On Hanukkah the garden hosted activities for children with a candle-lighting ceremony and in the weeks we had a huge picnic with an open stage. Purim, Independence Day and the longest day of the year were celebrated at outdoor dancing parties . There were also performances in the garden, such as the Alwan band, where 200 people attended. But the most amazing thing - after the vegetables and the flowers, of course - is the community that was created around the garden - a community that has become many for an alternative family.
