Transplantation success
It has been 6 days since my last herb update. I transplanted the propagated herbs to their new spot. After achieving a 100% survival rate for the propagation, I was feeling quite confident that the transplantation would be successful too, but the survival of all of them was a surprise.
I put 2 basil and 2 mint plants into an aquaponic setting and the other 4 of both herbs I just potted in soil. Guess which ones grow faster? Just look at these roots of the basil!
Aquaponic basil and mint
The mint is really growing upward fast and the basil is creating a lot of leaves in just a week.
Left basil roots, right mint roots. The basil herbs have created a lot of roots, very impressive for adapting to this new container in just a week.
Mint in the garden
The mint in the garden is still alive but hasn't grown too much since transplantation. Probably very busy with growing new roots.
Basil in the garden
Looks quite impressive and has grown a fair amount. The pot is quite small so the leaves look huge. However, it hasn't formed any new leaves. It must be pretty occupied with growing roots as well.
I'll give you guys an update on the herbs next week and will have a schematic for the automated RPI watering pot included!
