The best weather is yet to come
This year I had a goal to move all my plants to containers with a plate - the reason being, the society complained about the roof top getting damaged. Earlier I used to use plastic containers but as per them, it was damaging because the water was getting spread on the roof. One of our other block was recently repaired and they had given some ultimatum to either take care, or stop using the roof for gardening. Since I do everything on my own, I started putting plastic pots with a plate under it, so that the extra water does not flow into the roof. Also, while watering, need to keep in mind to give that much water, as needed.
Since last year I was trying to put these all seasonal marigold plants all year to have some flower every day. It was all an experiment and we certainly learn a lot over a period of time. Though I was able to feed the plant to have nice growth, the yield was not as expected. The temperature being a big parameter and the other issue was cyclonic storms. Usually, these plants come up with more number of flowers in winter with big size. But that did not happen in summer. The size was less also the number was less. Initially I was a bit disappointed, but later I made up my mind. But then the biggest enemy was cyclonic storms with strong wind. Since these are placed in roof top, the strong wind destroys them. Once the stems broken, it only hurts me because they do not grow the same way again.
So lessons learned - Keep one of these marigold plant alive throughout the year because I grow them from stems. And then start growing them before spring. And since I have also going to my native place, I am also trying to put up some plants there. It's difficult to make these work at both the places, but I love to do it. It's a bit more work but they are natural stress buster.
Planted some new hopes - they will be ready in 10 days and empty pots are waiting for them. Even though there is lot of rain, the temperature is still high, so have covered them to grow.
The curry leaves plants have grown up nicely this time, I had four of them, got rid of two, and have only two. They are still in plastic containers, need to move them.
Planted a Aloevera on the roof top - I love to take it with honey - its a natural digestive. It takes time to settle and then grows very fast.
Renovated mint leaves - I had to take all the old ones out and replant them - fresh mint juice with lemon and honey is another favorite drink at home - even kids love it.
And the spinach seeds are not showing any signs of growing - the boundary is for pegions - they take out the small plants and have to keep them away till the plant is grown up.
