"Árbol de Pan"
Se le conoce con diferentes nombres, entre los que resaltan: palopan, pepapan, ñame´e palo, pan del año, pan de pobre, fruto de pan, yaka y panapén. Se come crudo, hervido y también se puede dejar secar al sol hasta que la cáscara se ponga de color negro, y así disfrutarlo como un fruto seco. Su sabor es similar a la papa, aunque un poco más dulce.
En casa lo preparamos de la siguiente manera:
Después de abrir el fruto, seleccionamos todas las semillas y las ponemos en una olla con agua y sal al gusto. El agua debe cubrir en su totalidad todas las semillas de palopan y se dejan cocinar hasta que las cáscaras se abran.

- Mejora la conjuntivitis: lavarse los ojos con una infusión de hojas de árbol de pan.
- Tensión alta: Infusión de hojas de árbol de té.
- Adelgazante: Infusión de hojas de árbol de té.
- Cáncer: Su consumo previene el cáncer.
- Asma: Se recomienda tomar infusión de hojas de árbol de pan, tres veces al día.
- Elimina las verrugas: La raíz del árbol de pan, se tritura y aplica de manera directa en la verruga.
- Tratamiento para Diabetes: Las infusiones y comer el fruto favorece a la normalización de los niveles de glucosa en la sangre.
