As you sleep away drifting in and out of dreamland you keep hearing this loud horn sound. At first, you thought it was a part of the dream you were having. You would almost wake up and just as quickly drift back into sleep.
Honk. Honk. Honk.
This went on for about half an hour. At that point, your ear drums were starting to ring with pain. Enough to waken you. That is when you realized that someone was honking a horn.
Honk. Honk. Honk.
There was also some flashing of red and blue lights. It appears the sheriff of the small town had found you. You could tell from a distance the sheriff was visibly shaking refusing to get out of their car. They however kept honking that horn.
Honk. Honk. Honk.
You get up and walk towards the car. As you get closer you can tell the face of the sheriff is covered in a cold sweat. There was also a look of fright on their face. Something has spooked them.
As you get closer to the car they start screaming at you to get into the car and to hurry up. You turn your walk into a run and jump into the back seat of the car. The backseat doors then locked.
The sheriff smashes their foot down on the gas pedal and the car guns forward at neck-breaking speeds. This frightens you greatly as there are a lot of tree limbs sticking out in the road that the car is just speeding past and even breaking.
The sheriff remains silent till they get to the police station. They then run inside and moments later return with another officer that was about to get off work.
They both drew their guns. The officer presses a button to roll down the back seat window. You are then instructed to put your hands out of the window so you can be handcuffed.
Afterward, you are dragged into an integration room. Over the next few days, you are questions about a lot of things.
They wanted to know what you doing in the area. You told them the car you rented ran out of gas while trying to find where you had rented a cabin for the night for a short vacation. You showed them the reservation you had printed off online.
You are informed that is not possible there are no cabins that way. Just that empty house that sits on over 100 acres of land. The owner of that house died over a decade ago and those that inherited it have never once returned to get the paperwork in working order for proper ownership of it.
They looked into the details of your reservation and found no proof a trip was ever booked. The only thing that checked out was you did rent a car from a local rental agency. The car however was not where you said it was. You were charged with grand theft auto of the car that they claimed you have hidden somewhere so you could sell it for parts.
The officers then kept putting pictures of different people down on the interrogation table asking what you knew about that person. Since you have never met any of these people before the answer kept being “nothing.”
This went on for several weeks. You were asked about the disappearance of over 96 people in total. You did not know any of them and kept repeating over and over you were just here for vacation and had no clue who those people are.
Since they had nothing else to book you on they went ahead with a trial for grand theft auto for the rental car. The jury in the end sided with you since the trial failed to provide a motive for car theft or you making a profit from such an act.
After the trial, all of the charges were dropped. You were released and told to never return. That however is not any fun now, is it? What is inside of that house? Is this town hiding something?
Do you wish to start over from the beginning or accept this as the ending?
