Some have the confusion that the "Holy Week" is the same commemoration as the "Jewish Passover", but it turns out not to be so since one is for the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, which is the "Holy Week" . And the other is for the liberation of the slavery of the Israelites of Egypt which is the "Jewish Passover". Having clarified this we started with the 5 curiosities.
1- Why the hood in the processions?
This is originated by the time of the Inquisition, in which people were punished for having committed something religiously not due and had to cover their chest and back, also because the Nazarenes for having committed a sin should be put a Hood that was out of peak to supposedly be closer to God and that with this sign will forgive them from there the use of the hooded suit in the processions.
2- Fish ?:
According to the Catholics, eating red meat on this date is impolite and forbidden since these meats represent the body of Jesus Crucified and therefore should not be eaten.
3- Why a carnival before Lent?
The festival of Carnival comes from the ancient Roman Saturnalia and is celebrated before Lent. His name means carneme levare, that is, to remove the meat (by this they meant "goodbye"), and it is the season that precedes the 46-day fast that is proper Lenten. This is done to dismiss what is usually done and enter a state of renewal for those 46 days described above.
4- Fasting?
It is a Christian tradition to fast in Lent from a predetermined age that is from when you are of age until you reach age 59, it is not a punishment not to do it but it is a tradition that is said to renew you, that is why it is done since and continues to be done.
5- Does Holy Week change date ?:
It is believed that Holy Week changes year after year, so Holy Week does change its date if the lunar calendar is taken as reference and not the date established by God for "Jewish Passover", but as two traditions different the date almost never matches. The date of the "Holy Week" can be started on March 22 or April 25 at most this because the full moon does not fall on the same date that is why it is arranged that way.
