Hi All,
The PGA tour makes a stop this week in Arizona for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which is being held at TPC Scottsdale.
This golf tournament holds the most unique atmosphere in all of golf – the par 3, 16th hole which has a stadium-like feel. The entire hole is surrounded by many thousand rowdy fans, as the tournament has embraced the party atmosphere for this hole and brings out many college aged kids from nearby Arizona State University. The unique experience is fun to watch for fans at home as well, though many tour players are not fans of the hole – if you miss the green on your tee shot, you can expect to be booed and jeered! To me, it is all fun so hopefully the players can enjoy it too.
The field boasts 10 of the top 30 ranked players in the world. Jon Rahm, who played golf at Arizona State, is the favorite to win and will certainly be a crowd favorite as well. Other notables in the field include Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, Rickie Fowler, and Phil Mickelson.
The tournament starts on Thursday, Jan 31, 2019, and goes 4 rounds. The tournament can be seen on the Golf Channel on Thursday and Friday, and on NBC on Saturday and Sunday.
I am adding to the fun by playing a FanDuel fantasy game for the event… here are my golfers:
Enjoy the tournament!
