Help...Pull the Plug! I'm working in overdrive here. Ever since the State of Texas announced its "Stay At Home" mandate three days ago, my owner @justclickindiva has been operating full throttle shredding all unwanted papers.
I can understand, though, as this is busy work for her. She's worried about her children, family and the state of our country.
You are correct, Ativa Home Office Shredder. I am worried about not only my immediate family, but also the state of our country and the world in dealing with this serious health crisis. Never in my lifetime has a virus taken control over the entire population of the world and affected to date:
Worldwide cases: 540,952
Worldwide deaths: 24,111
U.S. cases: 100,000
U.S. deaths: 1,571

Once sparse testing commenced, the totals for the U.S. skyrocketed to the point it's reported it's the leading country in total cases reported worldwide.
Our Texas schools have closed until April 8th. I don't feel it's long enough to keep our children safe. First indication U.S. citizens were told was that the elderly was the most vulnerable of our population to contract COVID-19. Now statistics show young adults are contracting and dying from this virus.
Our "Stay At Home" order is not as restrictive as some states who have ordered a lock down. We have the ability to make grocery runs and attend appointments. However, all social events where large gatherings take place have been cancelled or placed on hold.
Two days ago I was scheduled for lab tests for my Diabetes. In approaching the Clinic, I discovered rules in place to ensure anyone entering the facility is safe to do so for their own protection and that of the Clinic's lab staff. Your temperature is taken and questioned whether you feel ill in any way. I wore my mask and gloves.
While traveling home, I noticed numerous individuals not yet wearing any protective gear nor practicing social distancing.

Even with witnessing this, I believe the general public in the U.S. is finally realizing the severity of this health crisis with the number of reported cases and deaths.
I hope they respond accordingly sooner rather than later and follow the directives of their own State health professionals and individual mandates when directed to please "Stay At Home".
