When you compare yourself with others, what do you think of yourself and your own abilities?
Story example:
A 75 year old farmer I once met, who said he didn’t amount to much and felt a loser? He kept comparing himself to his wife, “She always earned more than me!”
- He never considered the fact he supplied the food and comfy home foundation for her to come home to, especially after she would have a stressful business trip.
- He had missed the point that all these years they complemented each other as a loving team!
- All those years wasted on self-pity! What of the dormant potential of them both locked up all those years?
- Maybe if he had realized what a team they had, they both would perhaps have gone much further in life together?!
Sadly comparing ourselves against others:
Have you ever thought the following?
- You did well at school but landed up been paid less at work, compared to your friends that failed at school and now earn so much more than you do? Does it seem unfair?
- Other people win lottery tickets, get noticed for promotion and opportunities fall into their laps, etc! Why do others have all the luck and not you?
- You put a lot of time and effort into what you do and seem to get nowhere. Yet there are others who seem to go places and are so successful in this life, it seems without any effort on their part! How do they do it?
Are you always going to lose out? Is it the twist of fate?
We under estimate ourselves!
Why waste our lives on self-pity! Each of us has a dormant ability. It may not be an obvious talent…but something… that you can build on, instead of comparing ourselves to other people.
Each of us is unique like a fingerprint:
And with that uniqueness we can stand-out in a crowd. Consider what is so different about you, from other people. And then what you could do with it.
- It may be just your personality and how you relate to others that could `open doors’ for you.
- The way you create things: You may have a different panache style twist or flair that could create a new fashion or décor craze.
- How you put things together can create a new invention. How you link facts, theories, events and results may have a new connotation that could change the world for the better.
Don’t hide your talent under a bushel!
… `Let your light shine before men’!
No one will know what you are capable of, unless you show them what you can do. Not only talk about it, but display it openly for everyone to see it. Seeing is believing!
For example: If you sew and create beautiful clothes… wear it yourself in a stylish way to advertise it.
- Notice there is a certain amount of acting in that. So act the part until you are the part!
- Don’t forget to enjoy acting the part, while you are doing it! Paving the way to success can be just as much fun as hitting your target.
- Dressing and acting the part builds confidence. And you need your confidence to make your posts to go viral.
