A completely hypothetical method of some innovation that could possibly be an example of an unseen effect of government regulation and inhibition of progress is the introduction of flying cars. I think we could all agree that flying cars would be an amazing and fantastical piece of technological innovation that could benefit all of us in many aspects of our lives. This being said, there is a great possibility that the government could greatly restrict the implementation of these flying vehicles and restrict them from production or even stop their creation entirely. The government would likely want to restrict the roll out of flying cars into the world for many different reasons. The regulation that would need to be created almost entirely from scratch could easily scare away legislatures from wanting to allow the flying vehicles to be created. Another reason for the legislature possibly wanting to suspend the establishment of the product could be the need for new licensing procedures to be enacted upon the people wanting to be able to operate. The many new procedures and regulations might be a great hindrance to the potential establishment of flying cars into the United States. Reestablishing federalism could greatly increase the odds of a product like this being created. Without having to rely on a single governmental body in order to get started, companies wanting to create and distribute a product such the one I previously mentioned would be able to get started on their product if they could only convince one single state’s government to allow the production and manufacturing of the product. If only one state was able to allow this to happen, other states could look upon the progress and innovation made and would likely seek to replicate it however they could, thus allowing the company to expand into other areas of the nation and spread to other states.
