They say it can’t be done
The Documentary “They say it can’t be done” is quite interesting because it adds a whole new perspective to entrepreneurship the side you don’t think of as much which is rules and regulations. The regulations that some of these companies had to get through were quite amazing because of how difficult they were to get by in the past. I thought it was interesting and put things into a good perspective when they are comparing new entrepreneurial ideas being looked at by the robot and it is deciding if it fits in the rules or not and it was accepted or declined, and almost all new ideas got declined because they didn’t fit into the guidelines and wasn’t normal. During this movie/ documentary they show how this different business got into starting up and it wasn’t your normal business they started ones that pushed the boundaries and regulations to their limits causing some things to change. That is very interesting to me because of the ways they found ways around the problem and got to start their business, and all of this is something I am hoping to be able to do soon like the entrepreneurs in this movie. This movie also shows that you are better off when you are starting off your entrepreneurial expedition or new company you gain a competitive advantage if you know all the rules and regulations behind the field you are trying to get into. This is what all these companies had to do to be able to become successful and the first companies ever to do what they are doing.
Another way this movie related back to this class was how the whole movie is practically about creative destruction. It is happening all throughout the whole movie because all these new businesses starting up are to help with the environment and destroy the old while trying to stay between the regulations. All of them are the new future for society and in 20 years they will be the new normal and be replaced by even better ideas from entrepreneurs. This documentary just really gave hope to a lot of entrepreneurs going against society because it showed that no matter what there will all need to be upgrades or new things to replace the old ones currently being used. It also showed how you may have to fight and do a lot of research on your product/business to be able to prove to the society that it is the new normal and it will be good enough for the current regulations you just might have to prove your business to the world. In this movie, one of the creative destructive examples was farming in the ocean. This new business has never been done and it is trying to replace normal farming done on land because of the recent decrease in farmland. It was truly fascinating how they thought of this idea and fought to get around all the state and country regulations by figuring out how far away they would need to go out to be able to do it. I found this movie very interesting in how it shows how no matter what we as entrepreneurs will always be in a battle against society no matter the time or situation because of current regulations and rules and always trying to find ways around them.
