The movie I will be discussing is today “The Founder”. McDonald started in San Bernardino California intending to set forth the best prices and the fastest service. Although this was a great way of doing things, the franchise was not always like this. Multiple attempts were put forth trying to make McDonald's better than its competitors at the time and with these efforts, there were several failed attempts. Entrepreneurs are always looking to improve, Ray Kroc was not involved in the corporation at the time but he was most definitely looking to get involved while heavily improving the company even with the challenges being presented. Repetitiveness is key Ray thought to himself and although he had struggled in the past trying to get by selling unusable machines to companies he was a very tough man, looking for the best opportunities in life he may find. Ray eventually made his way into the market, opening hundreds of Mcdonalds all across the states and even some in other countries. This took time but Ray, was willing to take that risk, eventually mortgaging off his home which caused him and his wife to be much more exposed to their assets. This can be normal, this is a huge part of what makes an entrepreneur an entrepreneur, taking big risks and sometimes losing valuable things at a cost. After putting all of his efforts forward Ray finally began to take charge, opening a separate real estate company operating solely off of the land each Mcdonald's operated on. Mac and Dick were outraged with these actions because they were against the contract and Ray claimed this was just how the world works. Change is essential and for Entrepreneurs, this is one of their many big traits.
I feel this movie is interesting because it displays such a good view of entrepreneurship and how companies or facilities compete against each other. In the beginning, Ray was a small-time Entrepreneur or businessman looking to make his way to the bigger picture. In the end, Ray had managed to finally take over the industry passing his so-called “partners” at the time. Ray did have some sympathy for Mac and Dick, but sympathy is much less of a concern when it comes to business and bringing in millions of dollars. Bringing in high amounts of revenue is not always the goal for business owners or entrepreneurs, but the mindset each of these individuals holds is what separates them from the harsh conditions of the real world. If you are not the best then there is a good chance you or your business may not make it, you have to be willing to give your all for the goals you wish to achieve.
Although lots of changes were put into place society was almost clueless regarding who ran what facility or who made the food. Ray believed that the whole country needed Mcdonald's and because of these beliefs, he managed to make it farther than Dick and Mac had ever dreamed. Society was impacted but only in positive ways, every time a McDonald's was put up or built then the city surrounding that Mcdonald's was more than happy. With how fast the company began to grow, Ray was able to secure easy employment and even solve all of his money problems through the owners of certain stores. This allowed Ray to grow even more than he thought was humanly possible and society was more than pleased, everyone loved Mcdonald's!
