The Movie I will be discussing is “The New Machine” which was released on the History Channel. The episode consists of the men who “built” America like John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie who greatly impacted the Industrial Revolution. All of the people shown in the film were very integrated and curious about what the world has to offer but was also put in very different categories because of society's views. Henry Ford focused on benefiting the people while individuals like Rockefeller and Carnegie wanted the same, but they were put under different consequences because of the specific results of their actions. If this person had not made these decisions then the world would not be where it is today because of revolutionizing certain things. I feel this aspect of the movie is entrepreneurial because of the changes brought upon society for the better, and because of these changes, the world continued to expand. The acts presented accounted for the ingenuity and curiosity that any entrepreneurs hold no matter the outcome. Henry Ford had an amazing idea for an automobile that could have been shot down at any moment if he had thought he wasn't capable of succeeding, but being the entrepreneur he was he made it work and continued with his legacy.
I feel the film was interesting because of the uncomplicated period presented in the early 1900s. Everything was so undecorated and bland, which allowed for an endless amount of changes or possibilities. With all of the challenges presented at the time I feel it was much easier for Henry Ford to overcome these barriers mostly because of this bland timeline, it was even discussed in the film. Henry ford managed to gain attention and funding because he was able to beat Alexander Winton in a race, Alexander happened to be working for a company that held patents on motorized vehicles and this allowed Henry to keep his dream alive. The people loved Henry's cars, not only because of the fair price but because of the attitude displayed by henry when manufacturing these automobiles. Henry also took into consideration mass production, allowing him to have many more cars built in a day than anyone had ever seen. He also raised the pay for his factory workers allowing for a better working environment overall.
Society loved what Henry Ford was doing, he was displaying endless amounts of fairness not only because of the production of cars but also because of the day-to-day pay all of his workers would receive. Society takes into consideration all of these things and will decide how the rest of the world views you and your own company, basically the make-or-break attitude which can either help your company tremendously or horrendously. We have briefly discussed the attitude and relationship towards society in class but I feel like it is a very relevant subject when being or becoming an entrepreneur. Overall, Henry Ford and a few others changed the world for the better later leading to the Industrial Revolution and also showing Americans it is better to work together when looking for the best overall outcome.
