The next version of the Gridcoin explorer has taken quite some time for me to create. While the current page does a good job, it isn’t dynamic enough to make changes to without breaking something else on it.
While I’ve really hoped to be able to complete a fully featured version of the next page before it’s released, I’ve come to release that this will not be happening. There are still to many items on my list of to-do that isn’t going to make this process any faster.
Instead, I will release a limited version of the explorer for anyone to use on the side of the existing one we have today. It will make it possible to gain your feedback, and hopefully make it an even better experience in the long run. Since I have many ideas already written down, I may also have missed a ton of features that everyone in the community thinks is equally important.
The first release will be in a couple of weeks. This version will not be able to do much but show the potential of the new page and it’s enhanced performance, which was one of my key goals to begin with. Databases have been optimized and thought has been put into it to make it easy to expand.
At first, the page will only be able to view a recent blocks list, view any block content by height and the history of an address. Features like viewing a specific TX, CPID details, Polls and much more will come at later times. Since the introduction of GDPR, that is also an angle that needs to be solved, which is already on planning stage.
I’d like to thank everyone for the many feedback I’ve got on the page and hope that we can continue to be a positive community driven for good science and progress!
Issues and feedback around the new webpage can be posted on the Gridcoinstats GitHub Issue Tracker
Will post again when the new testversion is available.
