What is GTD?
The problem of favorite to-do lists is the decision paralysis and a great bang. One thinks (or just thinks) of dozens or even hundreds of tasks resigns instead of embarking on one after another. The GTD is different. When performing a task, you always go through five separate phases:
- recording
- sorting
- organization
- planning
- performance
The level of our personal organization is, according to D. Allen, the weakest link in this five-step chain (return to it again and judge what it might be like for you 🙂
ZTD focuses more on the part of the exercise. Its main principle is to determine 1-3 of the most important tasks each day the next day and ideally treat them in the morning. This is, in my view, the most important thing that GTD overlooks a little and focuses rather on the previous stages.
What was my problem
My problem, when I read the book by D. Allen, was to constantly think about a task. Even though I knew I would start with it in time and successfully fulfill it. I understood in my book that the thought was that I did not get all my thoughts out of my head and clearly did not define the next step. So I had a problem with recording and sorting.
Why, according to the book "Have Everything Done", lies in our head?
- we did not get the desired result
- we have not decided what next step will be
- we did not save the next step and result into the system we trust
Using Tags in Evernote
I've been wondering for a long time whether to organize things according to notebooks or labels. I have reached the goal of making tags more flexible, especially since:
- Tags are almost inexhaustible. You can have up to 100,000 on one account, which is enough for 99% of users. Notebooks are limited to 250.
- One note may have multiple tags. This may be in more imaginary folders with different contexts (for example, between projects and between to-do tasks).
- Tags can be hierarchically embedded. Unlike laptops that can only be plunged into a single stack (stack), the tags can plunge anywhere deep.
