Steemers,
Hacking is serious business. If you account is breached then you loose all the hard work you've put in for such a long time.
- Make sure you're using a generated password from any online password generator. Don't use your standard ones you use on all accounts. Just google password generator and you'll find a bunch.
- Keep the Steemit password only for steemit and the other passwords only for the other platforms. Don't use the same passwords in two places. Especially not on Steemit and other places.
- It's great that all these new apps appear, that are dedicated to the Steemit community and make this place more exceptional than it already is, but I'm growing concerned that they might have embedded key-loggers or other exploits and they could gather information about you and even sensitive ones like passwords etc. Be very very careful, have spyware and antivirus software up to date and be reluctant to use various websites that are not proofed by others first.
What do you do if you actually get hacked?
Hopefully you find that out very soon to decrease the damages and then recover your account through the newly implemented Account Recovery Process posted by the Steemit team yesterday: https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemit3/third-update-to-july-14th-security-announcement-account-recovery-begins
Be safe,
Anduweb
