Tony Perkins, prominent right-winger and President of the Family Research Council, recently got a taste of his own medicine. In Oct. '15, he proclaimed on radio that God sent Hurricane Joaquin to Washington, D.C. because of SCOTUS' decision on marriage equality. On Aug. 16, '16, he went on the radio again; he spoke about how the Louisiana flooding of “Biblical proportions,” affected him and his family. He didn't view this as punishment bur rather a trial that would enable his spiritual growth. Double-standard much?
The Southern Poverty Law Center names the Family Research Council as an LGBT hate group that has ties with White Supremacists. Natural disasters and illness, as one pastor had counseled me, are direct results of existing in a living, breathing Earth. Perkins didn't get the memo.
