Now, why wouldn’t someone with high IQ be depressed?Just having an high IQ has its cons as well; it looks like a bicycle ride but in fact, it is more like a rollercoaster ride. There are a number of reasons for why people with a high IQ would be depressed :
- Where the majority of the population does not have high IQ, a person who has a high IQ might feel different or left out from most of the people.
- Since that person feels left out and has practically no social life, he/she is isolated and alone.
- When we are alone, we tend to overthink and overthinking is the cause of all of our problems.
- Music does not make sense to them. (I’m talking about people who have very high IQs like 160+). It’s not that EVERY person is like this but then this is the case with many people.
- Because of isolation, they get into drugs, become an alcoholic or both.
- People with high IQs see the reality rather than lying to themselves about the truth or ignoring reality. So, they have a hard time ignoring reality which makes them unhappy.
- They usually have low EQ which makes them weak at socialising and being empathetic since empathy is required for maintaining a stable relationship.
This doesn’t mean EVERY person who has a high IQ should be depressed. I’m just saying that people with High IQs are more vulnerable to depression than people who don’t have a high IQ.
Hope this helps.
