I am writing about something I know quite a bit about as I have lived with a back condition for 16 years now.
When I was 34 I was diagnosed with a prolapsed disc. Unfortunately it had collapsed towards the spine and there is only a 15 percent chance of success with surgery. That was not a risk i was prepared to take so you just have to make do and live life to the fullest the best you can.
I have used my knowledge and experience with back pain to establish a bed company that makes custom made beds for others in my situation. I was shocked originally what the manufacturers were doing and the mark ups they apply.
What you have to realize is the more expensive the bed the better it is for you. I have stuck to the firm belief that everyone is different and a bed should work on the weight of the person lying in it.
We have 4 different spring settings that can be moved around to wherever they are needed for extra support. i don't believe in memory foam either. Memory foam is affected by heat and loses its firmness the hotter it gets. Imagine sleeping in your memory foam bed in summer and then in winter. basically it would be like sleeping in 2 different beds. Your back would be screwed up for 6 months of the year.
We suggest latex and if you can afford it organic latex. This is not affected by heat and will provide the support you need for years to come.
If you are thinking of buying a bed don't rush into it as remember you spend a third of your life in it so it is crucial to get the right one with the right support for you. The bed salesman doesn't care about you he just wants a sale.
Your back is important look after it and make sure you have the correct bed.
