My lunch for today consists of some small mackerel cooked in vinegar, salt, and garlic with some oil, some winged bean salad with oyster sauce, and a couple of steamed tomatoes. All to be had with some steaming rice. The winged bean doesn't come very often and it is quite a tasty four-corned bean similar-tasting to any pea pod out there.
It is also known as a "Manila pod" but we call it a "Sigarilyas" here. This pod has a very slight bitter taste to it in my opinion but delicious nonetheless as it is one of the peas that we used to make a salad out of along with tomatoes and red onions seasoned with fish sauce but I like it with some broiled fish. We also used to grow it in our backyard before when I was younger and they are easy to grow without much insects disturbing the vegetable plant.
I don't know if it was okay to catch small mackerels like these which I believe s a good bait for bigger fishes. These minnows are fun to eat because they are indeed tasty. You can eat their head bones and all because all are soft and tender including their bones so it is good for me because of their calcium content. It is also good to be fed to children because you will not worry about them being stabbed in the throat with fish bones because it ia all edible and tender.
I just ate good today because of the fish which I do not have very often and eating something that you don't have very often makes you like the dish more. Plus my meal consisted of some steamed tomatoes which added some nice flavor to the fishes and it makes a nice eating with such meal with some salad on the side. I washed it all down with some Gatorade because I do not like to drink coffee this time as well as those juice drinks that are instantly made.
