In the past, common health issues revolved around the flu, headaches, and nausea but now, the list has changed. According to the World Health Organization, there are some health issues responsible for the highest amount of death around the world. Below are these health conditions and how they can be prevented.
Coronary artery disease:
This condition occurs when the blood vessels which transport blood to the heart get smaller or narrow. This condition can lead to heart failure, chest pain, and arrhythmias when left untreated. Causes of CAD include high blood pressure, smoking, high cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes. In order to prevent CAD, it is advisable that you exercise often, eat healthily, keep a healthy weight, avoid drinking and smoking.
Diabetes Mellitus:
Diabetes is a health condition where the production and use of insulin by the pancreas is affected. In Type 1 diabetes, insulin is not produced at all by pancreas but in Type 2 diabetes, the pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin. While the cause of Type 1 diabetes is unknown, Type 2 diabetes can be caused by poor diet, obesity, high blood pressure, aging and lack of exercise. To prevent diabetes, it is advisable that you eat healthy meals with lots of fruits and vegetables and exercise frequently.
Diarrhea:
Diarrhea is a situation where a person stools more than three times a day. The condition poses a big health issue because when it occurs for days, it causes the body to lose too much salt and water, causing dehydration. This can eventually lead to death. Diarrhea can be caused by living in an unhealthy environment, use of dirty water, malnourishment or a week immune system. The best prevention for diarrhea is to take on good hygiene.
Stroke:
Stroke takes place when there is a restriction or limitation in the flow of oxygen to a person's brain cells, causing the cells to die. Stroke is one of the major causes of disability because if left untreated a person suffering from a stroke can become disabled. Some causes of stroke include high blood pressure, smoking and a family history of stroke. Although there are hardly specific preventive measures, a healthy lifestyle can lower the risks of a person suffering from stroke.
A good step to lowering the risk of these health issues is by taking on a healthy lifestyle which includes exercise, good rest, good hygiene and eating healthily.
