Along with infections, dermatitis can occur in the ear as a result of reactions to topical medicines, wearing jeweler, applying excessive cosmetics and methacrylate ear plugs. Be aware that when there are issues related to ear discharge or ache, self management should be avoided unless you are very sure of a natural home remedy to use. But if symptom persists, go see a doctor.

- Ensure you blow your nose correctly. Avoid sniffing and or squeezing your nose when blowing.

If there is pain and discharge from the ear as in the case of otitis media, certain natural home remedies with little or no know side effect if properly applied are available . They are;
- Squeezed out juice from onions and garlic. Soak in cotton wool or use as drops in the ear.
- Honey drops in the ear also removes ear ache.
- Squeeze out some juice from pumpkin leaves and apply to the ear as ear drops.
- Squeeze out some juice of Dandelion and add few drops of alcohol, using as drops in the ear can stop pains and discharge quickly
- Juice from decayed plantain trunk can stop ear pains and discharge when used as drops.
You can also use fresh garlic cloves as ear plug. by Wrapping a clove in tissue. Place the wrapped garlic into the canal of the ear. Do not push it deep inside just allow to rest in the opening as ear plug. Best to do it before bed time leaving the garlic in the ear all night. Keep repeating and be assured within 48 to 72 hrs the ear problem should be over! This method has been used to treat even chronic ear infection.
