Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 24:10-13
We pick up where we left off last week. Abraham's servant had sworn that he would not take Isaac to Nahor, but would bring a woman back to be Isaac's wife.
Now he is taking ten camels and many of the best of Abraham's things with him, rising up early to go to Aram-naharaim.
Upon arrival, he stopped the camels and waited outside the city at the well where people would come to get water in the evening. The servant prayed saying, "YHVH, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. See, I am standing by the spring of water where the daughters of men come to draw water..."
The girl must be the right one. The combination of Isaac and his wife will produce Israel and the Arab nations of the world. We will continue the prayer of this faithful servant next week.
The story continues next week as the girl is identified before she gets there...
