If you are new to SteemIT then you probably are experiencing what i like to call "Doubtful Minnow Syndrome"
You might be feeling like your time here is wasting, because your posts are not getting the reaction you thought they would. You might be feeling doubtful about whatever it is you bring to the SteemIT Community. You might be saying to yourself "I'm posting and curating and i'm meeting people, so where the hell are my upvotes?"
I know, because i've gone through the same frustrations at times when i thought i was making a quality post. But first let's think, what is "quality"? I guess this all can subjective but generally a quality post is informative, well formatted, and something that adds to the pool of discussion that goes on here. So sit back in your chair, and think...Are you really adding to the discussion? or are you just trying to gain some upvotes and make a few bucks?

You being doubtful is the reason why you are not getting attention!
Believe it... it's true, the law of attraction is real and whatever you think and put out the in the universe, guess what? it comes back to you. Focusing on negative things never helps anyone in any situation in life, whether it be with work, family or friends. Negativity typically will give you the results you DON'T WANT, so why ponder on the negative aspects of life?
And we cannot possibly know how much attention one of posts will get as a minnow, because we are so new sometimes a post will get $1.00 or sometimes it will get $43.00, the key in this Steem World is consistency! Be consistent and you will see results.
Take advantage of the tools that are in place for minnows to become Dolphins because that is the next step to becoming a Whale.
SOME HELP FOR MINNOWS
The @minnowsupport project is doing very good thing's for minnows right now, and is a good place to start if you want to get more attention on some of your posts.
The @randowhale project is amazing and is an excellent tool for new users so summon a "whale vote" on their post or someone else's post. Just send 2 SBD or STEEM to @randowhale with the URL to the post as a MEMO and it will generate a upvote for your post randomly between 1% and 50%, awesome!
Get involved with the contests here, contests build up community interaction and that will help draw attention to your blog, and if you got some good stuff. People will follow you, i guarantee it.
The Whaleshares project by @officialfuzzy is an amazing tool also for minnows and anyone who wants to summon a whale vote onto their post. Whaleshares are being given out right now sometimes too in the Discord Chatroom located @ https://discord.gg/RRDzn6c
Stop worrying about the payouts from other Steemians
If you are doing this..STOP NOW! Stop countin' somebody else's money and start worrying about how you will generate an income of your own. Doing this will only deter you from your goals , and it might piss you off too.
Make friends with your fellow minnows
Stop chasing whales...it doesn't work. Instead you might want to start making friends with some of your fellow minnows. In a year from now someone whose posts you ignored because you we're chasing a whale, might be a whale himself or herself. And you'll see their name and say to yourself "Wow i can't believe @rondonson is a whale now! let me go upvote his posts and comment", but by then it might be too late. Make friends now, build relationships now, SteemIT is still a very young platform and it has a loooooong way to go!
Dont' fret! You are the Whale of Tomorrow!
Becoming a Whale obviously is not easy to do (unless you got a lot of capital and you invest) you have to build up a following, and that can take time. But everyone whose a whale now did not start off that way. A lot of people here just put in the solid time and effort to reach Whale status.

Be active in the community, curate, and up vote and genuinely care about the topics you are commenting on and you will see that in no time you will gain a following. SteemIT has only been around for 1 year...ONE YEAR!..That's nothing, so consider the future and think about next year, or the year after and where you will be if you stay consistent. You'll be a Whale in no time!
I hope that this blog restored some hope in some of you doubtful minnows, i know you are out there. Just keep it together and keep posting and curating and interacting with the people here. The community is still small, it's easy to know whose who, and to make friends. Remember don't doubt yourself, you are great!
