First, let me say that there are Good reasons for using prescription medications (Public service announcement because, my Daughter is a Pharmacist, LOL), and I am just an Engineer (and a student of Herbals), and NOT a Doctor! That said, we need to arm ourselves with as much information as possible, before we take ANY medication. A UTI is common difficulty, and must be addressed, but there is a simple OTC remedy that can be purchased at most health food stores that will fix this quickly. Ionic or Colloidal Silver (250 to 500 PPM) will kill infections normally treated by anti-biotics with Minimal risk. Anti-biotics kill infections by limiting their reproduction (so it takes a week or more to work), but Colloidal Silver kills the same infection by interrupting the resperation of the infective agent (a couple of hours). The only side effect of the Colloidal Silver is the need to repopulate the GI tract with Probiotics, because it kills the good bacteria along with the bad. So when you buy the Colloidal Silver, buy some probiotics at the same health food store, to use when you have recovered. The side effects Colloidal Silver does NOT share with regular anti-biotics are different for every prescription, so READ those side effects before you take them! The last I took hurt my gut, so my doctor told me to stop taking them, because this was one of the listed side effects. This side effect of that specific medicine, was a bleeding stomach lining. I have learned a lot since then.

So, usual infections are killed safely in a day, by Colloidal Silver, but I usually run for three days myself to be certain. The normal dose is a single dropper twice a day, of the 500 PPM solution. Now, here is why it works so well. Bacteria has had 70 + years to become resistant to anti-biotics; so today we fight MRSA, CDIFF, etc., because of this mounting resistance! Silver used to be the treatment of choice for infections, but bacteria has no immunity to silver these days. As a direct result, Colloidal Silver is significantly more effective today, than it was a century ago.
When I was taking classes with the SAWC (Society for the Advancement of Wound Care), I found that most of the new medicine and bandages, are being treated with Ionic or Colloidal Silver. This SAWC study effort was to help me design new medical equipment (resulting in two dozen Patents), so I was required to go there every year. Silver used to be primary medicine, now it is forgotten, and being redescovered by speciality Medical people, to be re-released into the mainstream in another decade or so.
