- Have you watched or read "Twelve Years a Slave"? Author Solomon Northup got freedom on this day in 1853, which eventually helped Steve McQueen get an Oscar.
I'm starting this as an experiment to increase my general knowledge and will try to find good stories and fun facts about what happened on the date. I'll try to write it daily, but I'm not sure if I can.
