If you watch Bollywood movies then you must be aware of upcoming movie- Padmavati. If you a done a bit of research on it then you must also be aware that it is based on a queen named "Padmini".
So who is Padmini?
Padmini, who is also famous as Rani Padmavati. She was a famed Indian queen in 13th - 14th century. She was the daughter of King of Singhal kingdom Gandharvsen and Queen Champavati. The most popular and the earliest source in which name of Rani Padmavati is mentioned in Padmavat. Padmavat is an epic poem which was written by Awadhi poet Malik Mohammad Jayasi in 1540 CE. In Padmavat, various aspects of the life of Rani Padmavati are described. In this epic, Rani Padmavati rendered as exceptional beautiful princess of her Singhal Kingdom.
In Padmavat, it is stated that she Padmavati was very close to a talking parrot named Hiraman. She used to tell him her everything. Her most of the time from childhood was spent with parrot Hiraman. Her father, King Gandharvsen strongly disapproves the closeness of parrot Hiraman and her daughter. So, he decided to kill Hiraman. He orders that the Hiraman be killed. When Hiraman came to know that, strict orders are issued to kill him. He flies away and eludes from the Singhal Kingdom. But unfortunately, he captured by the bird catcher. And bird catcher gifted the parrot Hiraman to the ruler of Chittor, Ratansen. Eventually, he became the pet of King Ratansen.
Ratan Singh is the name assigned to Ratnasimha in the different legends about him written in vernacular languages. One of the fictionalized legendary versions of Singh was Ratan Sen; he was first featured in the poem ‘Padmavat’ composed by Malik Muhammad Jayasi.
Hiraman describes the exceptional beauty of Padmavati to Ratansen. After listening about the Padmavati, Ratansen who was already married with Nagmati takes the decision of visiting Singhal kingdom and marry her. Parrot guides Ratansen in reaching to the Singhal kingdom. After crossing seven seas, he reached there.
Ratansen plans to attack at the fort, But while doing this, he was captured by Gandharvsen. And when Gandharvsen came to know about the glory of Ratansen, he marries her daughter to him. After getting married to Padmavati, Ratansen returns to Chittor with full pride that he married the beautiful lady on the earth.
In Chittor, now there were two queens. In starting, he placates his both wife by spending nights with them alternately. But later on, he started reprimanding them both
.
There were so many artists in the court of Ratansen, one of them was a famous musician Raghava Chetan. He was a shaman also, who uses his magical powers to target his opponents. Once, he was caught red-handed when he was trying to call evil spirits. And when Ratansen heard about this wrongdoing by Raghava, he banished Raghava from his court by blackening his face. Now, Raghava wants to take revenge for his insult. He runs away to Delhi with a plan that he will try to provoke Alauddin Khalji to attack Chittor.
King Alauddin Khalji, who was the second and the strongest ruler of the Khalji dynasty inside the sultanate of Delhi at that time.
Raghav already knew about the fact that Khalji regularly comes to a forest near Delhi for hunting.One day, when Khalji was out for hunting in the forest, Raghava played his flute. By hearing the melodious notes from the flute, Khalji gets attracted to the music. Then he ordered his soldiers to fetch out the flute player. Soldiers brought Raghava to the court of Alauddin Khalji. He gave a place to Raghava in his court as a musician.
After that, Raghava described to Khalji about the surpassing beauty of Rani Padmini. That emboldens Khalji to attack at Chittor, but he found the fort to be heavily secured by the soldiers of Chittor. So he covered the fort from all sides and sent a message to Ratansen.
As Khalji was desperate to see Padmavati's glimpse, in his message to Ratansen he said that he wants to see Padmavati's beauty. This request of khalji was directly refused by the Padmavati. But on hard request of her husband Ratansen, she agreed to show herself to Khalji in the mirror.
Next, Khalji entered into the fort with his selected warriors. He observed the security system of the fort. When he saw the Padmavati into the mirror, his eyes not blinked even at once. He was attracted by the beauty of Padmavati and decided to get her.
While returning to his camp, Khalji kidnapped the Ratansen And took him to his Camp. From his camp, he sent the information to the fort of Chittor that Padmavati should be handed over to him to save the life of Ratansen.
Gora and Badal, who were the two gusty warriors of Chittor. They plan to get their king back. By their plan, they sent the message to Khalji that Padmavati will be handed over to him by next morning.
The two men Gora and Badal went to the camp along with the warriors and attacked. After a storming war between the warriors of Khalji and Chittor. They free Ratansen. Gora dies them in the Warfield during the escape, While Badal takes Ratansen into the fort of Chittor

Khalji was violent. He commanded his soldiers to attack the fort of Chittor. As the fort was highly seized, soldiers of Khalji failed to get into the fort and covered the fort from all sides for days. Inside the fort, the food and stock started running out for the troops. So, Ratansen opens the fort, and the war started. As the soldiers of Khalji were overpowered and strong, they defeated Ratansen's warriors.
Over losing their honor to Khalji's army, Padmavati along with the wives many of the warriors preferred to get into the fire and committed suicide by Jauhar (mass self-immolation).
After this incident when Khalji reached the fort, he finds the burning ashes of the burnt woman. The sacrifice of those brave woman will always remain there in the stories, as they preferred supreme sacrifice to answer the dishonor with them.

Movie Padmavati, which is based on the Indian period drama. This movie is the upcoming movie of the most celebrated director of Bollywood SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI. The film is framed on the epic PADMAVAT. Earlier the film was scheduled to release on 17 November 2017, due to some protests in Rajasthan, the release date pushed to 1 December 2017.
