Am I The Asshole?
Welcome to the “Am I The Asshole?” Community on Hive! This community is a direct spin-off of the same community that is found on the website Reddit. The premise of this community is: you write a post about a situation in which you want to determine whether you’re the asshole or the other person involved is an asshole (or possibly both). Tell us what happened, in as much detail as possible, and as truthfully as possible, and people will reply in the comments with their opinions on whether or not you’re the bad guy. It’s as simple as that!
Benefits of Posting in This Community
Every day, our moderation team will choose their favorite “Am I The Asshole” post of the day and reward the writer with 1 HSBI (this amount will likely be increased over time – watch for updates!). The winner will be acknowledged in a post published by @aita-on-hive, and a beneficiary reward for the work will go to the moderator who chose the post, as well as a beneficiary reward to myself. We’ll set the beneficiary reward at 10% each.
What is HSBI? It’s a way to permanently increase the votes (and thus, the money) that you receive on your posts, provided you’re active at least once per year. Take a look here to read more about it.
Another benefit of posting here is that we are not going to restrict the posts to any specific categories or classify them in a way that makes you question whether it fits here. It’s very simple: you write your situation, and ask whether you’re the asshole. We’re not going to be assholes about it and make you jump through hoops.
If you want to make up a fake “Am I The Asshole” situation, then feel free. We want genuine scenarios, but if you make up a very interesting scenario, then we will appreciate the creativity. As we are skeptics, it takes a good storyteller to fool us, and we cherish creative minds!
Posting on Hive / InLeo is completely anonymous and free. You won’t get attack by a trillion website trackers. Only you are in control of how much information you want to reveal about yourself.
How Should I Format the Posts?
The title will be important here. Start the title with “Am I The Asshole…” and then give a very brief description.
The body of the post will contain all relevant details. We would encourage you to not change the body of your text after you publish it so that future readers won’t be confused. If you do make edits, please specify what you’re editing. This is simply a helpful guideline to encourage optimal discussion.
Comments should start with the judgment (“You are the asshole” / “The other guy is the asshole” / “You’re both assholes” / “Neither of you is an asshole”). Feel free to expand your opinion beyond this for a better discussion.
Try not to be rude to people. This is not a fast and hard rule, but we appreciate kindness.
The Actual Rules
The actual rules are very limited. No illegal content, no child pornography, no stealing content from elsewhere. These are virtually the loosest guidelines on the internet.
