Hi everyone, today, I will share a quick and easy cooking recipe. It uses the basic ingredient of unagi, or eel-shaped eggplant, which is commonly found in Japanese restaurants. This can be a good alternative if you are not good at cooking eel, as it is quite difficult to remove the fishy smell. Eggplant can be the solution.

Preparation | 5 minutes |
Cooking time | 25 minutes |
Total | 30 minutes |
Ingredients:
- 2 eggplants
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons chili sauce
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Margarine
- Oyster Sauce ( optional )
- Sesame seeds
If you want more spicy, add chili powder.
Steps:
Wash the eggplant thoroughly.
Cut the eggplant into pieces. This time, because the eggplant is bigger, I cut it into three pieces.
Wrinkle the eggplant to give it a shape like unagi, which makes it easier to absorb the seasoning.
Steam the eggplant unagi for 8-10 minutes.
Once cooked, set it aside.
Make the sauce:
Mix all the sauce ingredients : the sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, pepper powder, garlic powder, and margarine to make the spread.
Next, heat the pan with margarine.
SautΓ© the eggplant unagi in the skillet until browned and caramelized, applying the sauce as you turn it over.
Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
Put the eggplant unagi to a plate.
- The unagi eggplant is ready to be served with warm rice and a sprinkle of nori or seaweed.
