Many times, I have visited Miyun City, which is located next to my living city, Huairou. It is the farthest district of the Beijing Municipal to the North-eastern direction. The city is one of the most beautiful one in my observation as it is free from the busy traffic and very few people live at this distance area from the downtown of Beijing. Besides the natural scenic views, one of the most important reasons for me to visit this beautiful city is to pray, as this district has a mosque, while my hometown has no mosque. Also, if I need to buy some halal beef or mutton, I used to go there to buy them as very few shops sell halal meat in China, especially in my living area.
So, naturally, this city will have many more Muslim restaurants than my living area, and it is true that there are many halal restaurants near the mosque; also, there are many more throughout the whole city, I guess, as usual. But I have never tried halal food to this area where I have visited many times. So, last weekend during my cycling session I have taken my dinner in a halal restaurant there. I didn't order so many foods just ordered a rice bowl with beef an potatoes. This is one of my favourite dishes in these halal restaurants, while I go there with only myself to have dinner.
After I entered into the restaurant, I found that this one seems to be a old restaurant and there are some reflection of classic decoration in chair and tables. There was a large roof lighting decoration, but the area of the restaurant was not so large. It was nica ely decorated small restaurant.
When they brought the menu book, I found almost similar types of foods without any new ones that I was expecting in this new area. Maybe I will try some new ones in the coming days and discover some new dishes or bowls to enjoy. So, I ordered the rice bowl with beef and a common dish which can be found everywhere. But the price of the bowl is expensive in this restaurant at this far area. It costs 25 RMB, which is usually 20-22 RMB in most of the other halal restaurants all over Beijing, wherever I have tried earlier.
After I made my order, they provided a welcome drink, which was quite delicious with some herbs and teas, I think. It takes around 10 minutes to provide my rice bowl, and it was a kind of newly appeared dish for me as they use more soy sauce on the meat than I have previously experienced. Also, the plate was relatively smaller in size, and the meat concentration seemed to be more, but actually normal, like other restaurants.
If I talk about the taste, I can not admire it so much with the high price, but the rice quality is better here than in many other restaurants. This is the only thing that justifies the high price of the bowl. Welcoming tea is also common in many other restaurants, and it adds no extra value. But they use the brass pot, which is a classic one, as it is from the very old days of the traditional water jar.
I hope you like my experience in the Xinjiang-based Halal restaurant in the urban area of the Miyun City, and its delicious food. The overall taste was standard, and I will come back here in the future to enjoy some other platters in the coming days.
