One of the bands I'm most happy about to have discovered the last few years most definitely would be Ghost.
They're a band from Sweden and labeled as a Heavy metal band but I don't think that it does them any justice. They play so much more than that. Especially their last few albums varies a lot in the styles per song. Heavy, acoustic, rock and everything in between.
They even did a few 70's style songs that are so awesome.
What is even more awesome is that Ghost started in 2006 and the identities of the band members remained a secret right up until around 2017. The concept is around Papa Emeritus and the nameless ghouls that switches every album. So you had Papa Emeritus I on the first album, Papa Emeritus II on their second album, Papa Emeritus III on the third album and Cardinal Copia on their latest album. Each incarnation of Papa Emeritus comes with it's own appearance and music-style. During their last concert in March 2020, there was a big happening on stage where Cardinal Copia collapsed on stage and was surrounded by a nuns and transformed into Papa Emeritus IV. Can't wait for their new album that should be released late 2021.
Their songs are also very fun to play. The riffs are not too difficult and very catchy. I recorded their first song from their first album which is called Con Clavi Con Dio.
Couldn't resist playing this song while standing. Recorded 2 guitar tracks using the free ML Sound Labs "Roots" which I also used for the Strapping Young Lad cover video.
Hope you like it and feedback is always welcome! :)
