Hello rockers!!! In this second episode I will talk about the second pedal I bought, it was a DOD Compressor/Sustainer FX80B, I bought it thinking of balancing the clean tone a bit and giving the distortion more punch, although theoretically that should be the case, I expected a radical change. The thing is that at that time I knew almost nothing about equipment, there were no social networks and the only way to learn and learn more was through magazines or with someone who knew more than me.... In my case it was magazines, every week I bought an issue of Total Guitar and Guitarist, those magazines had a lot of information and we learned a lot, and they also came with a CD, with demos of some equipment and tracks to practice.

En este segundo episodio hablaré del segundo pedal que compré, fue un DOD Compressor/Sustainer FX80B, lo compré pensando en equilibrar un poco el tono limpio y darle más pegada a la distorsión, aunque teóricamente eso deberia ser asi, yo esperaba un cambio radical. La cosa es que en ese tiempo yo no sabía casi nada de equipos, no había redes sociales y la única manera de aprender y conocer más, era por medio de revistas o con alguien q supiera más que yo.... En mi caso fueron las revistas, cada semana compraba un numero de Guitarra Total y Guitarrista, esas revistan tenían mucha información y se aprendía bastante, y tambien venia un CD con ellas, con demos de algunos equipos y pistas para practicar.
The pedal has 3 controls: Level, Release (from 1997 changed to Attack) and Compression. The compression level was really not bad, the truth is if you got a good configuration you could get a good sustain and compression without killing the tone (I know that now before I didn't know), but back then the only thing I managed was to give it more noise to my distortion (DOD Supra Distortion) that I talked about in the last post (if you didn't read it look for it in my profile) without being able to give it the attack that I expected, it should be noted that I had a cheap strat-type guitar with single coils.
El pedal tiene 3 controles: Level, Release (a partir de 1997 cambió a Attack) y Compression. El nivel de compresión realmente no era malo, la verdad si lograbas una buena configuración podías conseguir un buen sustain y compresión sin matar el tono (eso lo se ahora antes no lo sabía), pero en aquel entonces lo único que logré, fue darle más ruido a mi distorsión (DOD Supra Distortion) del que hablé en el post pasado (si no lo leiste buscalo en mi perfil) sin lograr darle el ataque que yo esperaba, cabe destacar que tenía una guitarra barata tipo strat con single coils.
Reading magazines I learned the difference between a single coil and a humbucker, so I went for one that I saw in other magazines, a Dimarzio Super Distortion DP100, my intention was to sound like Papa Het or Dimebag Darrell (how delusional hahahaha), but hey I was just a boy learning and I had no idea what he was saying... So I bought and installed the DP100 and a new world opened up for me, now I felt that the compressor worked as I expected and the distortion had much punch (at my standards at that time)... but like every pro or apprentice guitarist I wanted more pedals and more things.... so I bought the 3rd pedal that I will talk about in the next post!!!! Leyendo otras revistas aprendí la diferencia entre un single coil y un humbucker, así que fui a por uno que vi en otras revista, un Dimarzio Super Distortion DP100, mi intención era sonar como Papá Het o Dimebag Darrell (que iluso jajajaja), pero bueno solo era un chico aprendiendo y no tenía idea de lo q decia.... Así que compré e instalé el DP100 y se me abrió un mundo nuevo, ahora si sentia q el compresor funcionaba como yo esperaba y la distorsión tenia mucho mas pegada (mis estandares de aquel momento)... pero como todo guitarrista pro o aprendiz queria mas pedales y mas cosas.... asi que compre el 3er pedal del que hablare en el siguiente post!!!!
