Scientists may have developed the first male birth control pill, YCT-529, that is non-hormonal, side-effect free, and fully reversible. In a small clinical trial of 16 vasectomised men, the pill showed no impact on testosterone, mood, heart rate, sex drive, or blood markers. Animal studies also confirmed that fertility returned within six weeks after stopping the drug. While the pill doesn’t prevent STIs, it may offer men a long-overdue, safe alternative to condoms and vasectomies. Further studies are underway to test its effectiveness in preventing pregnancy.
