Hola y buenos días mis colegas de Hive Cuba hoy quiero hablarles un poco de mi profesión pero de una forma un poco diferente.
Hace unos doce años atrás me gradué como técnico médio en Geodesia y Cartografía una especialidad que al principio no se conocia mucho de ella por la falta de información al respecto. Pasé 3 años en el tecnológico Juan Vitalio Acuña Núñez,ubicado en la Habana, Cuba, Municipio Cotorro. que era por decirlo de alguna forma la cede de donde se estudiaba la profesión.
Entre el primer y segundo año nos impartieron asignaturas básicas como la Geodesia, la Topografía, el Catastro y la Cartografía que es en donde me desempeño actualmente como especialista en el Instituto de Geografía Tropical.
Mi principal función es el análisis de datos geoespaciales con el fin de apoyar a la toma de decisiones sobre los principales recursos naturales del territorio atravez de salidas cartográficas como lo pueden ser los diferentes tipos de mapas que existen en la actualidad.
Actualmente trabajo con varios sistemas de información geográficos que son programas informáticos que permiten el análisis e interpretación de los datos geográficos y que le dan al final una mejor visualización al usario que lo consume. Uno de los programas que más utilizo es Qgis un SIG de código abierto que facilita al geografo su trabajo con los mapas.
A través de los mapas y los SIG los geógrafos ayudamos a resolver diferentes problemáticas sociales, económicas y ambientales por lo que cada día se necesita aún más de nuestra presencia en las diferentes esferas productivas.
Entonces amigos mediante este pequeño pero consiso contenido espero que hayan aprendido un poco sobre mi profesión actual y que les haya motivado el uso de nuevas herramientas informáticas.

About twelve years ago I graduated as a technician in Geodesy and Cartography, a specialty that at the beginning was not well known because of the lack of information about it. My main function is the analysis of geospatial data in order to support decision making on the main natural resources of the territory through cartographic outputs such as the different types of maps that exist today.
Currently I work with several geographic information systems that are computer programs that allow the analysis and interpretation of geographic data and that give at the end a better visualization to the user who consumes it. One of the programs I use the most is Qgis, an open source GIS that facilitates the geographer's work with maps.
Through maps and GIS geographers help to solve different social, economic and environmental problems so that every day our presence in the different productive spheres is needed even more.
