Last week @mipiano set out a challenge for us to do three things that we've been putting off for a long time. This is the post if you missed it. Procrastination is my speciality and it's taken me a week to do this post, so technically I have achieved one of the three challenges already 😂.
Mopping the floor
I'm not a big fan of housework. Hands up if you agree 🙋🙋🙋. Don't be shy. I have no children and pets at home so keeping the house spotless sparkling clean every day isn't a top priority. Of course I wash up and clean the kitchen every time after cooking, I do the laundry, and I also clean the toilets. But one thing that I always put off doing every week is cleaning the floor (please don't judge me 😂 ).
To be fair, the area that needs mopping is just the kitchen and dining room and takes me less than 10 minutes, or even 5 if I work quickly. Then afterwards I need to rinse the mop and bucket outside, then I can't sit inside the room as the floor is wet. I go through the same cycle every week putting off the chore. Sometimes I procrastinate for one or two days, and sometimes a week, but I will get it done eventually 😄
Return unused borders
A while ago I wanted to add some low level borders to the little garden in front of the house. Quite a lot of people and dogs walk by everyday and sometimes the dogs like to steer very near and even pee on it. These borders are very easy to install. There are spikes on one end and you just hammer them in the soil. You can even cut them to the length to want.
The problem is, and I didn't realise this before, the edge of my front garden has concrete and it's not smooth. If I install the borders there will be a big gap to the edge and it won't be a straight line. What a pain!!
Now I have to take the unusable borders back to the shop and hopefully get a refund for them. The problem is that I don't have the receipt for it. Plus they're very heavy, I don't want to take them all the way to the shop only for them to reject my request. That's why I've been putting this off. This is money sitting in my garage, not a smart move. I'm going to take them back to the shop this week, and if they refuse to give me a refund I'm going to sell them on my local FB page to salvage whatever cost I can. Money is always a big motivator!
Set up a mini green house
If I manage to complete the above task, then I can stop procrastinating on the next one. I have tidied up my garden and now I have a spare corner that gets no sun. I want to put up a mini green house for my seedlings and young plants to grow. I have found one online but want till wait a couple more weeks to see if it will go on sale. Plus, if I can get a refund for the borders, or sell them, I can use the money to buy the mini green house. Kill two birds with one stone!!
I'm pretty confident my last two tasks will be completed this coming week. As to the first one, of course I will do it sometime......
If you procrastinate a lot in life, how about sharing three of them on Hive? It's a great motivator to drive you to complete those tasks. Or you can also check out the other challenges hosted in the Three Challenges Community
