There Are Common Blue Jewels Everywhere Along the Rayap River Flow

These photos were taken in Sidomulyo Village, North Aceh, near the Rayap River. If you've ever been there, you'll see a lot of common blue jewels (Heliocypha perforata - Percheron, 1835), which is perched on twigs or rocks. They occasionally fly low over the river's surface.

Yup, the common blue jewel is a jewel damselfly species that prefers to live near rocky rivers. This is a dark-faced Odonata insect with a really gorgeous physique; the thorax is a mix of blue, black, and pink, with a black belly with blue markings; it has translucent black wings with pink patterns and transparent brown wings at the base.
