So Jake Paul just defeated Nate Diaz in boxing overall rather easily. Off the top of my head, Nate may have won two, maximum three rounds out of ten.
Call me what you want but this Jake Paul boxing thing, still fascinates me.
Jake came out strong and was all over Nate in round one. Jake out-boxed Nate the next few rounds, nothing too crazy but then in round 5 Jake dropped Nate and Nate almost fell out of the cage looking like a whole frog for about two seconds.
The last five rounds, Nate had some moderate success, the most success he'd have in this fight. Nate would overwhelm Jake in spurts and land some solid dirty boxing strikes, but it didn't really phase Jake much, although in brief moments it looked slightly dicey for Jake.
I can't say I'm surprised about the outcome. Jake has focused purely on the sport of boxing, and he's younger and just a pretty decent athlete on the whole, to say otherwise would just be wrong in my opinion.
Some say the fight happening is weird, a money grab, just for entertainment. Maybe there's bits of truth in those points but, I don't know man the fight seemed pretty legit.
I love Nate's personality and I think he's for sure a fighting legend. But sometimes his fighting tactics, style, strategy or whatever can annoy me. Not that it's a bad style but it's become sort of ridiculously predictable.
It's like Nate thinks he can still sneak up on people, like people don't watch tape. He literally just tries to get his opponent tired, wait them out, even play possum at times. Nate tries to get his opponent out in later rounds, every time. It's like he resents aggression or even having any muscle. Bro, you're a pro fighter. Throw a power shot, just once.
It's like 90 percent of his strikes are rabbit punches, off speed punches, or in MMA he'll literally slap dudes. At a certain point, it's simply a waste of time. Him and his camp say that if this had no time limit Nate would win.....
I just don't know if that's true, Nate did get dropped by Jake.
Also, I know people can have different body types but come on, it's like Nate has never heard of a bench press or dumbbell. The man prides on being in great cardio shape, but also looks like he's never done a pushup.
When Nate sees a weight room...
Like I said I like Nate, and when he performs well it's great and he did have his moments vs Jake. I just wish maybe he'd like, try a new strategy at times. The repetitiveness can be sort of annoying.
When it comes to Jake, I think he did well. I never watched Jake on YouTube, he can be obnoxious and everything but I really don't hate the guy. He's like a new, weird version of McGregor at this point.
Perhaps it was odd for a huge portion of the fight community to write Jake off as an athlete. Sure he did not enter the sport in a traditional fashion, but he entered the sport somewhat young and he does have an athletic background.
Also, if I will speak on Nate's personality or whatever, I'll speak on Jake's a bit. I really don't hate Jake's confidence and how he talks. Of course there's always an exception, I am certain he's said or done something stupid I would find annoying.
But I do feel a smidge... inspired by the guy. Am I allowed to admit that? Will I be banned from society for doing so? HA.
But Jake and his brother have been literally hated on by millions of people, for a long time, starting at a young age. I truly could not begin to relate. Yeah, there's been kid stars that have been under the spotlight in the past, but when you add social media into the mix it's a whole different beast.
I simply think it's pretty cool for Jake to be able to prove a lot of people wrong. I guess I'm just falling for the underdog story. It must really feel amazing to be victorious like that after a ton of hate.
Jake could have easily like, done drugs, become a failure, end up in prison like a lot of people in his position have.
Jake has seemingly taken all of that pressure, and actually used it to make himself stronger I guess?
It's pretty amazing how a dude with that much money, decided to start fighting.
I think people figured, even if Jake did begin a fighting career, there'd be no way he could take it truly serious and understand what it takes. How could a millionaire dig deep and go the extra mile in the gym?
I really think it's quite possible that all the social media hate made Jake into a bit of a beast. Like, I'm really starting to think that. That's truly an aspect of Jake's life that not even other fighters could relate too.
The internet hate grew some dogs in Jake...
Jake mentioned a rematch with Nate in MMA, which is pretty ballsy. I would not write Jake off at all though. Jake wrestled and wasn't too bad at it. Nate mentioned he'd do the MMA match but he seemed remarkably unenthused about the idea in my opinion.
Jake to Nate regarding the MMA match....
Jake beat Nate in a boxing match, went 10 rounds with him. It's not the greatest accomplishment ever. I know Nate is older by 12 years but there's always an excuse whenever Jake has won.
Considering there's people out there that cannot believe it happened, makes it mean something. I think I heard Drake bet like a quarter million on Nate? He probably put money on Jake too though LOL.
I don't know if Jake will continue fighting or if he's capable of beating actual pro boxers. Maybe he's satisfied with this level of competition. But he's surprised me this much already.
I imagine Jake is gonna enjoy social media for a bit after this.
