The Phillies got the job done with ease for the most part last night, a clean 5-0 shutout. Two players that have been pretty quiet in recent times actually helped the Phillies which was great to see, those players being Taijuan Walker and Max Kepler. Walker is having a nice mini comeback here as a valid starting pitcher as he got through six scoreless innings, and Kepler went two for four with a home run and two RBIs. It's always nice to see the more under the radar players contribute to victories and not always having to rely on the top of the lineup. Alec Bohm and Aaron Nola are still out as well so hopefully they will only boost the team when they return.
The Phillies finish today's series with an incredibly early first pitch, a 12:35 start is really not common but it's pretty cool. Frankly I think it would be fun to occasionally have earlier morning games but that's just me, I don't think many would agree with me LOL.
The Phillies are now 2.5 games ahead of the Mets! That's pretty exciting stuff! A sweep today would officially make the Phillies 'hot'! They've been heating up for sure and have played well all season but to get hot in August would be ideal!
It's once again very mild in the Philly area, it will only really be in the high 70's. It might graze 80-81 degrees but just barely. I'm loving it, hopefully the Phillies love it too! Ranger Suárez seeks his ninth win! Several Phillies pitchers are on track to have double digit wins in 2025 pretty awesome!
