It's been a pretty busy week for the Phillies no doubt about it. The Phillies struggled big time against the White Sox, and the bullpen seemed to be worse than ever in that series. All season long the bullpen has been bad so President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made a big move by trading for Twins closer Jhoan Durán for some prospects on Wednesday. To be honest I don't know a ton about Durán but from what I have learned he's pretty good and throws very hard. He's supposed to be a massive upgrade for the Phillies. I'm excited! The very next day next day the Phillies made ANOTHER trade with the Twins and acquired outfielder Harrison Bader in an attempt to sort of stabilize the Phillies inconsistent offense. Bader is solid enough and could potentially be an upgrade over Max Kepler we shall see. Kepler seems to still have a strong role but adding Bader to the mix gives the Phils another nice option. The Phillies aren't being shy here and definitely want to win the World Series! This is pretty big stuff and I'm all for it. I'm SUPER pumped on Durán because this bullpen has been nightmarish.
This last portion of the season seems pretty crucial, and I'm glad the Phillies are being urgent. This core of players won't be around forever and this might give the Phillies that extra juice and motivation to get the World Series!!
Let's see how it goes starting tonight! The boys are back in Philadelphia to face a championship contender in the Detroit Tigers. I know the fanbase will be pretty fired up after these trades, I'm ready. The weather in Philly is shockingly mild so I hope this can be used to the Phillies' advantage. Feeling a bit like October.....
Ranger Suárez on the mound!
