Something that can help understand this strange and dishonest attitude from Barcelona is because for years they criticized Real Madrid for being a team that uses money to buy the best players, ignoring the fact that all the teams do this including Barcelona itself. However, they took advantage of the fact they had a historic generation of house players which allowed them to not spend too much money signing stars from other teams. Having such a golden generation isn't normal and it should be treated as a special time in history, not as a regular occurrence.
Thanks to this golden generation, many people in Barcelona criticized Real Madrid every time they spent money purchasing good players in order to compete, and they even lied about the true cost of Neymar because otherwise, they wouldn't be able to criticize Real Madrid for signing Bale, the 2 players had a similar cost for both teams but for Barcelona only 1 of those signings was criticizable. Things were so crazy in Barcelona that there was even a nun expressing her negative opinions about Real Madrid for purchasing expensive players, ignoring the fact Barcelona does the same and every team in the world does the same. Their obsession with feeling better than Real Madrid led them to adopt irrational attitudes and ultimately take irrational decisions.

The big question is what is going to happen to Messi now? In my opinion, as mentioned before, I think he will sign for either PSG or Manchester City. These clubs are the only ones with the financial resources to pay Messi the salary that he wants, and signing for either of these teams will allow Messi to continue to compete at the highest level. I think PSG is the one more likely to sign Messi but this will probably be confirmed in a manner of days because the season is about to start and I am sure Messi wants to sign for a new team as soon as possible.
The absence of Messi will certainly be hard for Barcelona in the short term, Messi was not only their main goalscorer but he was also the player with the most assists. I believe Griezmann will increase in importance, and other players such as Coutinho and Dembele will also have to improve their performance. Barcelona will have to endure a couple of years of sacrifices to give some time to the current management so they can stabilize the financial situation of the team because even without paying Messi's salary they are still above the limits imposed by Laliga, so further adjustments need to be applied to the squad. In case you wonder why Real Madrid isn't suffering the same challenges, it is because Real Madrid didn't have any economic losses during the last 2 seasons, in comparison, Barcelona had a loss of 487 million this season. Both seasons in Real Madrid ended with a small profit thanks to the discipline in reducing expenses and also thanks to the differences I mentioned in the previous post linked a few paragraphs above.
Right now, LaLiga needs a new world-class superstar and Mbappe appears to be the only option. Let's see if Real Madrid is capable of signing him.

En caso de que te preguntes por qué el Real Madrid no está sufriendo los mismos problemas, es porque el Real Madrid no tuvo pérdidas económicas durante las últimas 2 temporadas, en comparación, Barcelona tuvo una pérdida de 487 millones esta temporada.
