Greetings friends of #sportstalksocial yesterday afternoon the results of the vote of the members of the MLB writers association for the selection of the new members of the hall of fame of this fabulous sport like baseball have been made public.
In this case, three players have been selected and I will briefly mention their cases in this publication. Congratulations to Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer and Todd Helton.
If you ask me about these three players and how I would summarize their careers I would say the following about Beltre who was the most complete third baseman of his generation, Mauer who was the American League's flagship Cartchee in the 2000s, and Helton who was simply the best player in the Colorado Rockies franchise.
Let's talk a little about each.
Adrian Beltre.
The Dominican third baseman par excellence, who in my opinion was not profiled as a Hall of Famer after signing a contract with the Seattle Mariners that some criticized at the time, was good enough for a long period of time to accumulate numbers worthy of elevating him to the Hall of Fame at his first opportunity.
Beltre who started his career in the big leagues very young, in 1999 at 19 years of age and at 20 was a starting third baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers, although he was always a defender well above the rest, his bat did not end up swinging accumulating an OPS+ of 99 (when the league average is 100) which means that between 1999 and 2003 he was an average hitter in the league, this of course until 2004 when the 25 year old player woke up with a spectacular season in which he hit for .334 with 48 homers and an OPS+ of 163, or 63% above the league average, his youth and experience, coupled with that awakening with the bat led the Seattle Mariners to obtain his services, with a multi-year contract so that with Ichiro were pillars of that franchise.
Unfortunately with Seattle he was never able to approach his 2004 numbers, which seemed a fleeting stardom obtaining numbers rather similar to those of his years with the Angels, on the other hand began the awards to his valuable defense as were his first gold gloves.
After a 2009 season below all his standards Beltre, at the age of 30, changed teams to Boston where he batted .321, a substantial improvement and the beginning of an excellent second half of his career.
Well in that 2010 season with Boston and then the rest from 2011 to 2018 with the Texas Rangers, the team with which it seems to me was the one that shone more bareo 1466 Hits, an average of .307 and won 4 Gold Gloves to total 6 in his career with 3166 Hits 636 doubles 477 Homeruns and 1707 runs batted in.
More than round numbers, and above all in his position he managed to pass to have two beltre, the first a solid defender a good bat in the first half of his career to one of the best third basemen in the league in the second half of his career, those numbers made him a strong candidate to enter the hall of fame, basically the question was how many votes he was going to get, today we have the answer: 95.1% of the votes to enter if first eligible for it.
Todd Helton
The best hitter in Rockies history, unlike Beltre, with all the excellent numbers he had, it took him a few years to come in, but now he's doing it with a 79.7%. His numbers of .316 average, .414 fielding percentage and slugging percentage of .539 for a career of 17 years and more than 9400 home plate appearances should be more than enough, but there are two factors that at least from my point of view the voters considered, the first is the effect of playing in Colorado, in whose park in those years it was notorious how easy it was for players to hit well there, the other is that the second half of his career was affected by injuries that significantly affected his batting, this has affected his case in his early years but last year he saw the momentum.
One of the things that in my opinion give him the place in the hall of fame to Helton is his performance in his best years, because in the period corresponding to the seasons from 1999 to 2004 he had impressive numbers, with a batting average of .340 fielding percentage of .434 and slugging of .620 in 7 years, in which he averaged 47 doubles and 35 homeruns per season, reaching 400 total bases in 2000 and 2001, the truth is that they are remarkable statistics for any player.
The home field advantage may be true but for example the 2000 season, his best season he had remarkable numbers with a batting average of .372 with 42 homers and 59 doubles, while his home average was .391 with 27 homers and 28 doubles, as a visitor he did not do so bad batting for an average of .353 on-base percentage of .441, 15 homers and 31 doubles, he also hit for a .353 on-base percentage of .441, 15 homers and 31 doubles.441, 15 homers, 31 doubles and 59 RBI, if we take these numbers away from home Helton and simply multiply by two we would have a full season .353 batting average, 30 homers, 62 doubles, impressive numbers as well, so while Helton hit better at home, away from home in his best years he was also an excellent hitter, defensively Helton won 3 gold gloves, a franchise player for the Colorado Rockies.
Joe Mauer
If the selection of Helton can cause controversy this one too, because this franchise player of the Minnesota Twins, had quite short career totals, however from the perspective of his position, Catcher, he had batting numbers that had not been seen before.
His totals may cause some controversy, especially as a first round pick, Mauer had a career batting average of .306 with a .388 slugging percentage and .439 slugging percentage, with "only" 211 hits.439, with "only" 2123 hits, 428 doubles and 143 homeruns, total numbers that in any other position would simply not enter the hall of fame, in my opinion would not be considered, in comparison Joey Votto, who is looking for a team right now and is in an interesting debate about whether his numbers are sufficient to achieve eligibility has 2135 hits, 459 doubles and 356 homeruns, with a batting average of .294 and an OBP of .404.294, a .409 OBP and .511 slugging and numbers (except batting average) much better than Mauer's and he is a player of the same generation.
The case of the now Hall of Fame catcher is based on his best years (in a much more concentrated way than Helton), on his position as a franchise player and on the position he played, such as catcher, at this point we can say that his career was quite short because of the latter, the rigors of his position. *Between 2005 and 2012 Joe Mauer had a .323 batting average and .406 fielding percentage, winning 3 batting titles, a most valuable player, and three gold glove awards.
The three batting titles are something no other catcher in history has achieved, and the MVP is also very important. But for me Mauer should not have entered in the first opportunity, I am not saying he does not deserve to be in the hall of fame but usually only those who have the best numbers.
They enter in the first time, because Maurer did not win world series rings with his team, although in his MVP season he hit 28 homers he was not a power hitter, and the truth is that in this case it seems to me that the voters rushed a little in relation to their previous criteria, if total percentage of votes was 76.1.
Those left out
There is always the debate of those who are left out of the hall of fame, in this case we have two cases that for me could enter, and I'm not talking about Gary Sheffield, a very talented player but prone to injuries in his youth that suddenly took a second wind in his 30's in the era of steroids, well it looks a little suspicious, I refer to the cases of Andruw Jones and Billy Wagner, the former with 10 Gold Gloves, 434 homeruns, and a season of over 50 homeruns, if we take his averages from 1998 to 2006 (8 years) the center fielder averaged 35 homeruns, 104 RBI, and 31 doubles while winning all the gold gloves of his era, that is to say he completely dominated his position while hitting 35 homeruns per year, in the case of Wagner an effectiveness in his career of 2.31 with 422 games saved for arguably the most effective left-handed reliever in history makes a great case as well.
And well at the end of all the stats and possible outcomes here it is, the reality we have 3 new players selected to the hall of fame by vote (Jin Leyland was selected by the veterans committee as manager) congratulations to them and this debate is going to extend, for my part I expose my humble opinion.

Saludos amigos de #sportstalksocial en la tarde de ayer se ha hecho publico el resultado de la votacion de los miembros de la asociacion de escritores de la MLB para la seleccion de los nuevos miembros del salon de la fama de este deporte tan fabuloso como lo es el baseball.
En este caso han sido seleccionados tres jugadores cuyos casos mencionare brevemente en esta publicación. En horabuena para Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer y Todd Helton.
Si me preguntan por estos tres seleccionados y como podria resumir sus carreras diria lo siguiente de beltre que fue el tercera base mas completo de su generacion, de mauer que fue el Cartchee insignia de la liga Americana en la decada de los años 2000, y de Helton que simplemente fue el mejor jugador de la franquicia de los Rockies de Colorado.
Hablemos un poco de cada uno.
Adrian Beltre.
El dominicano un tercera base por excelencia, quien a mi parecer no se perfilaba como salon de fama luego de haber firmado un contrato con los marineros de Seattle que algunos criticaron en su momento, fue los suficientemente bueno por un largo periodo de tiempo como para acumular numeros dignos de elevarlo al salon de la fama en su primera oportunidad.
Beltre quien inicio su carrera en las grandes ligas muy Joven, en 1999 a los 19 años de edad ya a los 20 era un tercera base titular en los Dodgers de los Angeles, si bien siempre fue un defenso muy por encima del resto, su bate no terminaba de balancearse acumulando un OPS+ de 99 (cuando la media de la liga es 100) lo que quiere decir que entre el año 1999 al 2003 era un bateador promedio en la liga, esto por supuesto hasta el año 2004 cuando el jugador de 25 años desperto con uuna espectacular temporda en la cual bateo para .334 con 48 homeruns y un OPS+ de 163, o in 63%superior a la media de la liga, su juventud y a la vez experiencia, unido a ese despertar con el bate llevo a los Marineros de Seattle a conseguir sus servicios, con un contrato multinual para que con Ichiro fueran pilares de esa franquicia.
Lamentablemente con Seattle ninca pudo acercarse a sus numeros del 2004, que parecian un estrellato fugaz obteniendo numeros mas bien similares a los de sus años con los Ángeles, por otro lado comenzaron los premios a su valiosa defensa como fueron sus primero guantes de oro.
Luego de una temporada de 2009 por debajo de todos sus estandares Beltre, con 30 años, cambio de equipo hacia Boston donde bateo par .321 una mejora sustancial e inicio de una seguna mitad de carrera excelente.
Pues en esa temporada 2010 con Boston y luego el resto desde 2011 hasta 2018 con los Rangers de Texas, el equipo con el que a mi parece fue el que brillo mas bareo 1466 Hits, un promedio de ,307 Y gano 4 guantes de Oro para totalizar 6 en su carrera con 3166 Hits 636 dobles 477 Homeruns y 1707 carreras impulsadas.
Numeros mas que redondos, y sobretodo en su posicion logrando pasar a tener dos beltre, el primero un solido defenso un buen bat en la primera mitas de su carrera a uno de los mejores tercera bases de la liga en la segunda mitad de su carrera, esos numeros lo hacian firme candidato a entrar en el salon de la fama, basicamente la pregunta era cuantos votos iba a obterer, hoy tenemos la respuesta: un 95,1% de los votos para entrar en si primera ves elegible para ello
Todd Helton
El mejor bateador de la Historia de los Rockies a diferencka de Beltre con todo y los excelentes numeros que tuvo tardo unos años en entrar, lo hace ahora con un 79.7%. Sus numeros de .316 de promerio, porcentaje de embasado de .414 y slugging de .539 para una carrera de 17 años y mas de 9400 apariciones al home deberian ser mas que suficientes, pero hay dos factores que al menos desde mi punto de vista consideraron los votantes, el primero el efecto de jugar en colorado, en cuyo parque en esos años era notorio la facilidd que tenian los jugadores de batear bien alli, el otro pinto es que la segunda mitad de su carrera se vio afectado por lesiones que afectaron notablemente su bateo, esto ha afectado en sus primeros años su caso pero y el año pasado se veia el impulso.
Una de las cosas que a mi criterio le dan el sitio en el salon de la fama a Helton es su rendimiento en sus mejores años, pues en el periodo correspondiente a las temporadas de 1999 hsta 2004 tuvo unos numeros impresionantes, con un promedio de bateo de .340 porcentaje de embasado de .434 y slugging de .620 en 7 años, en los cuales promedio 47 dobles y 35 homeruns por temporada, alcanzando las 400 bases totales en el 2000 y 2001, la verdad que son estadísticas notables para cualquier jugador.
Lo de la ventaja de casa puede ser verdad pero por ejemplo la temporada del año 2000, su mejor temporada tuvo numeros notables con un promedio de bateo de .372 con 42 homeruns y 59 dobles, si bien su promedio en casa fue de .391 con 27 homeruns y 28 dobles, como visitante no le fue tan mal allo bateo para un promedio de .353 porcentaje de llegar a base de .441, 15 homeruns 31 dobles y 59 impulsadas, si tomamos estos numeros fuera de casa de Helton y simplemente lo multiplicamos por dos tendriamos un temporada completa con .353 de promdio de bateo, 30 homeruns, 62 dobles numeros impresionantes tambien, entonces si bien Helton bateo mejor en casa, fuera de esta en sus mejores años tambien fue un excelente bateador.A la defensa Helton gano 3 guantes de oro, un jugador franquicia de los Rockies de Colorado.
Joe Mauer
Si la seleccion de Helton puede causar polemica esta tambien, pues este jugador franquicia de los Mellizos de Minnesota, tuvo numeros totales en su carrera bastante cortos sin embargo desde la perspectiva de su posicion, la de Catcher tuvo numeros de bateo que no se habian visto.
Sus numeros totales pueden causar polemica, sobre todo al ser elegido en su primera oportunidad, Mauer en su carrera tuvo un promedio de .306 de bateo con un Porcentaje de embasado, de .388 y slugging de .439, con "solo" 2123 hits, 428 dobles y 143 homeruns, numeros totales que en cualquie otra posicion simplemente no entraria en el salon de la fama, a mi criterio no fuese considerado, en comparación Joey Votto, quien esta Buscando equipo ahora mismo y esta en un debate interesante al respecto de si sus numeros son suficientes para lograr elegibilidad tiene 2135 hits, 459 dobles y 356 homeruns, con un promedio de bateo de .294 un OBP de .409 y slugging de .511 y numeros (exceptuando el promedio de bateo) mucho mejores que los de Mauer y es un jugador de su misma generacion.
El caso del receptor ahora salon de la fama se basa en sus mejores años (de forma mucho mas concentrada que Helton), en su posicion como jugafor franquicia y en la posicion que jugaba, como lo es la receptoria, en este punto podemos decir ue su carrera se corto bastante por esto ultimo, los rigores de su posicion. Entre 2005 y 2012 Joe Mauer tuvo un Promedio de bateo de .323 porcentaje de embasado de .406 ganando 3 Titulos de Bateo, un jugador mas valioso, y tres premios al guante de Oro.
Los tres titulos de Bateo son algo que ningun otro receptor en la historia ha logrado, y el MVP tambien es muy importante. Pero para mi Mauer no debio entrar en primera oportunidad, no estoy diciendo no merece estar en el salon de la fama pero por lo general solo los que tienen los mejores numeros
Entran en la primera vez, pues Maurer no gano anillos de serie mundial con su equipo, si buen en la temporada de su MVP conecto 28 homeruns no fue un bateador de poder, y la verdad que bueno me parece que en este caso los votantes se apresuraron un poco en relacion a sus criterios previos, si porcentaje total de votos fue de 76,1
Los que quedaron por fuera
Siempre existe el debate de los que quedan fuera del salon de la fama, en este caso tenemos a dos casos que para mis pudieron entrar, y no hablo de Gary Sheffield, un jugador muy talentoso pero propenso a lesiones en su juventud que de pronto tomo un segundo aire en sus 30 en la epoca de los esteroides, bueno luce un poco sospechoso, me refiero a los casos de Andruw Jones y Billy Wagner, el primero con 10 guantes de Oro, 434 Homeruns, y una temporada de mas de 50 homeruns, si tomamos su promedios entre 1998 hasta 2006 (8 años) el centerfield promedio 35 homeruns, 104 RBI, y 31 dobles mientras ganaba todos los guantes de oro de su epoca, es decir domino completamente su posicion mientras bateaba 35 homeruns por año, en el caso de wagner una efectividad en su carrera de 2.31 con 422 juegos salvados para el posiblemente relevista zurdo mas efectivo de la historia hace un gran caso tambien.
Y bien al final de todas las estadisticas y posibles resultados aca esta, la realidad tenemos 3 nuevos jugadores seleccionados al salon de la fama por votacion (Jin Leyland fuen seleccionado por el comote de veteranos como manager) en horabuena para ellos y este debate se va a extender, por mi parte expongo mi humilde opinion.
