With the new Premier League season fast approaching, Alexander Isak's future at Newcastle United remains unclear. The Swedish striker has been training with former club Real Sociedad while recovering from a minor thigh injury, missing the club’s pre-season tour in Asia.
Despite Newcastle’s campaign kicking off on August 16 away to Aston Villa, their summer has been quiet — with only Anthony Elanga arriving so far. Isak, who has netted over 20 goals in each of the past two Premier League seasons, is reportedly keen on a move. If he does leave, Newcastle will demand a massive fee for one of their most consistent performers.
Since joining from Real Sociedad in a £60 million move, Isak has become a fan favorite. He helped return the club to the Champions League, ended their 70-year trophy drought with a League Cup win, and scored 50 league goals — only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have scored more in that time.
Many consider him Newcastle’s best striker since Alan Shearer, but the once-strong bond with supporters may now be under strain.
Newcastle Caught in a Tough Spot
Though manager Eddie Howe insists Isak is still part of his plans, the fans are growing anxious. True Faith podcast host Lee Johnson described the current situation as turning into “a bit of a nightmare,” given the high hopes after a successful season.
