United fans, have you seen the absolute chaos about Carlos Baleba joining Manchester United? The Brighton midfielder’s name is all over the transfer news, and as a Red Devils fan still hurting,
I’m really excited but also cautious about this one. Could Baleba be the answer to fixing our midfield problems, or is it just another expensive transfer that ends in disappointment? Here’s my full take on the Baleba rumors. why I’m hopeful, why I have doubts, and what it could mean for United. Let’s break it down.

First off, Baleba’s a proper talent. The lad’s only 21, but he’s already running the show in Brighton’s midfield. Last season, he played 27 Premier League games, scored a couple of screamers, and showed he’s got the lot; tackles, dribbles, and passes that split defenses. Posts are hyping him as a mix of Yaya Touré and Jude Bellingham
United’s midfield was a shambles last year. Casemiro looked like he was wading through mud, and Eriksen’s legs were gone. Baleba’s energy and flair could be a game-changer, especially next to Kobbie Mainoo, who was our only bright spark. Imagine those two bossing the middle for years!

The rumors kicked off when Brighton agreed to open talks with United for a “substantial” offer.
Word is United have been chatting with Baleba’s camp, and the lad’s proper keen, reportedly telling his agent he only wants United, even without Champions League football.
Ruben Amorim sees him as a perfect fit for his 3-4-3 double pivot, sitting deep with Mainoo to let Bruno Fernandes do his magic up top. With our summer signings like Sesko, Mbeumo, and Cunha already sorting the attack, Baleba could be the midfield glue we need to compete again.

But here’s where I’m getting a bit nervous. Brighton are slapping a £100m+ price tag on him. which is absolutely mental for a lad with just 39 Premier League games. United’s already splashed £130m on Mbeumo and Cunha. Posts say we’d need to sell Casemiro or Eriksen to fund it, maybe even throw in a player swap.
Then there’s Baleba’s inexperience. He’s class, but 39 Premier League games isn’t a ton, and Old Trafford’s a pressure cooker. Some fans on X have pointed out his passing can get sloppy under pressure which could be a problem in Amorim’s system that needs midfielders to keep things ticking. Last season, our midfield got overrun. Mainoo was our only hope, and we can’t expect a 21 year old to fix it overnight. If we drop £100m and he takes time to settle, People will be screaming “overrated” by October. Plus, some posts say he’s a left-footed player often misplaced on the right in fan lineups.
Still, I can’t stop dreaming about Baleba in red. He’s got that rare mix of power, vision, and proper box-to-box vibes.
Amorim’s got a knack for turning young players into stars. look at Gyökeres at Sporting. so I trust him to make Baleba shine. The fact that he’s reportedly pushing for the move shows he’s got the hunger to make it at United. If we can negotiate Brighton down to £80m with add ons, this could be a steal for a lad who could run our midfield for a decade.

So, what’s my call? I’m buzzing at the thought of Baleba bossing our midfield, but that price tag and his rawness make me nervous. If United can seal this before the window shuts on September 1, it’s a massive win for Amorim’s rebuild. But if Brighton hold firm or Liverpool swoop in, we could be left gutted. What do you think? Is Baleba worth breaking the bank for, or should we look elsewhere to fix our midfield?
