Hi lovers of engines and mechanical solutions, today I will share with you my experience with the change of the right front bearing of my Chery S18, known in my country as X1. If you follow me for a long time, you will know, thanks to my previous posts in this community, that I am in favor of carrying out vehicle repairs myself, relying on the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years, and the technical support of colleagues who share the same knowledge.
Saludos amantes de los motores y soluciones mecánicas, hoy compartiré con ustedes mi experiencia con el cambio del rodamiento delantero derecho de mi Chery S18, conocido en mi país como X1. Si me sigues desde hace tiempo sabrás, gracias a mis publicaciones anteriores en esta comunidad, que soy partidario de realizar las reparaciones del vehículo yo mismo, apoyándome en el conocimiento que he acumulado con los años, y el apoyo técnico de colegas y compañeros que comparten el mismo conocimiento.
To carry out this repair, the first thing I did was consult the vehicle's service manual that I have in digital, if someone wishes it with great pleasure I can send it to them. After consulting the manual and verifying the procedure, I set out to locate a commercial location that would provide the bearing replacement service, because it is located inside the pressure wheel hub, and the procedure to remove and place a new one requires a hydraulic press, although it is possible to do it in a more rudimentary way, but from experience I know that there are many risks.
Para realizar esta reparación, lo primero que hice fue consultar el manual de servicio del vehículo que tengo en digital, si alguno lo desea con mucho gusto puedo hacérselo llegar. Luego de consultar el manual y verificar el procedimiento, me dispuse a ubicar algún local comercial que prestara el servicio del reemplazo de rodamientos, debido que se encuentra dentro del cubo de rueda a presión, y el procedimiento de retirar y colocar uno nuevo necesitan de una prensa hidráulica, aunque es posible hacerlo de manera más rudimentaria, pero por experiencia sé que existen muchos riesgos.

This is a question that perhaps someone is asking, my knowledge that it is necessary to change it is based on the sound that the wheel emits when the vehicle is in motion. The sound at first may be imperceptible, but as the bearing deteriorates further, it becomes louder, even exceeds the sound of the engine, it is a serious sound.
Esta es una pregunta que quizás alguno se esté haciendo, mi conocimiento de que es necesario cambiarlo se basa en el sonido que emite la rueda cuando el vehículo está en movimiento. El sonido en un inicio puede ser imperceptible, pero a medida que se deteriora más el rodamiento, se hace más fuerte, incluso supera al sonido del motor, es un sonido grave.
On this occasion, it was not only the sound that told me that the bearing was already damaged, but also the vehicle when I left it in neutral it braked faster than normal, as if I applied the brake slightly. I had to drive like this for a long time, because I couldn't change it, until I was forced when the wheel made a very loud noise and the car stopped. I tried to lengthen the situation as long as I could, thank God nothing worse happened.
En esta ocasión, no solo era el sonido que me indicaba que ya estaba dañado el rodamiento, también el vehículo cuando lo dejaba en neutro se frenaba más rápido de lo normal, como si aplicara el freno ligeramente. Tuve que conducir así por mucho tiempo, porque no podía cambiarlo, hasta que me vi obligado cuando andando la rueda hizo un sonido muy fuerte y el carro se frenaba. Intenté alargar la situación lo mas que pude, gracias a Dios no ocurrió nada peor.
By the way, I cannot make the change myself, due to the theft attempts that I suffered in the past, several of the tools and keys that I had in the vehicle were stolen, and I did not have what it takes to do it alone, that's why I took it as I was able to go to a workshop, where they had the press, and since I could not stay in the workshop due to biosafety regulations, I could not take photos of the process, however, the mechanic very kindly took the ones that I am sharing with you.
De paso no puede realizar el cambio yo mismo, debido a los intentos de robo que sufrí en el pasado, varias de las herramientas y llaves que tenia en el vehículo fueron robadas, y no tenia lo necesario para hacerlo solo, por eso lo llevé como pude hasta un taller, donde contaban con la prensa, y como no podía permanecer en el taller por normas de bioseguridad, no pude tomar fotos del proceso, sin embargo, el mecánico muy amablemente tomo las que estoy compartiendo con ustedes.

When I saw it in these conditions, I remembered that the previous owner of the vehicle lives in a coastal area, and due to the salt in the environment, the metallic parts of the vehicle deteriorate faster.
Como pueden observar el daño fue catastrófico, el rodamiento perdió por completo todas las esferas metálicas que lo componen, además de oxidación y poca grasa. Al verlo en estas condiciones recordé que el dueño anterior del vehículo, vive en una zona costera, y por motivo de la sal que hay en el ambiente, las partes metálicas del vehículo se deterioran más rápido.

Also what happened leaves me on alert and I am planning to change the other bearings, because surely the saltpeter has also deteriorated them and it will be necessary to change them.
Esta situación, aunque algo trágica sirvió para tomar conciencia y no alargar tanto las cosas, es importante hacer los sacrificios necesarios y solucionar antes de que ocurra un daño mayor. También lo que ocurrió me deja en alerta y estoy planificando en el cambio de los demás rodamientos, porque seguramente el salitre también les ha deteriorado y será necesario su cambio.
