Home is a place where we spend so much of our time and it is our most precious time to rest, without a doubt. There is nothing like our home to be comfortable and we can be comfortable in every way when we spend the night in it.
One of the indispensable services that must work in the best way is the water supply to our house. Water is essential for our development at home, either in household chores such as washing, cleaning, and others, as well as for the daily cleanliness of the family members.
Nowadays, there is a certain crisis in the water supply, especially in the most populated cities, where the service is interrupted from time to time and sometimes several days or even weeks go by without water reaching the pipes. This has been happening for a long time in the city where I live.
El hogar es un lugar en el que pasamos muchísima parte del tiempo y es nuestro tiempo más preciado y para descansar, sin duda alguna. Nada como que nuestra casa sea cómoda y podamos estar confortables en todos los sentidos a la hora de pernoctar en ella.
Uno de los servicios indispensables y que deben funcionar de la mejor manera, es el de la entrada de agua a nuestra casa. El agua es esencial para nuestro desenvolvimiento en el hogar, bien sea en las tareas domésticas como lavar, limpiar y otras, así como para el aseo diario de los integrantes de la familia.
En tiempos actuales, se vive cierta crisis en cuanto al suministro de agua y sobre todo, en las ciudades más pobladas, donde a cada rato, hay interrupción del servicio y pasan, a veces, varios días, y hasta semanas, sin llegar el vital líquido a las tuberías. Eso está sucediendo desde hace mucho tiempo, en la ciudad donde vivo.
This important service crisis makes it necessary to use auxiliary equipment to facilitate the pumping of vital liquids to our homes. For some time, we were suffering a lot because we did not have a water pump, the fast kind, to help us pump the water to the water tank here in our house.
We depended, in a way, on the water coming with strong pressure to the pipes (this rarely happened), since there were so many houses on my street that use pumps to supply water to their houses, the pressure at the end of the street (where I live) was laughable because of how weak it was.
I also depended on the good offices of my neighbors across the street to connect a hose that I placed in my tank and in that way, I could fill it and have water for about four or five days, which is how long the water would last.
After some time, we were able to acquire a pump of this type, which cost us approximately $50, and the materials to make the connection cost us $40 more. Our neighbor, the one who supported us with the water from his house, did the installation and, therefore, did not charge us anything, that is, the total cost was only $90 because the labor was free.
Esta crisis de servicio, tan importante, hace que sea necesario utilizar equipos auxiliares para facilitar el bombeo del vital líquido hacia nuestro hogar. Durante algún tiempo, estuvimos sufriendo mucho por no tener una bomba de agua, de esas de tipo rápido, que nos ayudara a bombear el agua hacia el tanque de depósito de la misma aquí en nuestra casa.
Dependíamos, en cierta forma, de que el agua llegara con presión fuerte a las tuberías (esto casi nunca sucedía), pues, al haber tantas casas en mi calle, que utilizan bombas para surtir el agua en sus casas, la presión, al final de la calle (donde vivo yo), era algo que literalmente daba risa de lo débil que era.
También dependía de los buenos oficios de mis vecinos del frente, en conectar una manguera que colocaba en mi tanque y de esa forma, podía llenarlo y tener agua durante más o menos unos cuatro o cinco días, que es lo que me alcanzaba a durar ese contenido.
Después de cierto tiempo, pudimos adquirir una bomba de este tipo, que nos costó aproximadamente unos 50 $, y los materiales para realizar la conexión, nos costaron 40 $ más. Nuestro vecino, el que nos apoyaba con el agua desde su casa, nos hizo la instalación y, por ende, no nos cobró nada, o sea, el costo total fueron 90 $ solamente, porque la mano de obra fue gratuita.
A week ago, the installation was done at our house. The following materials were used, in addition to the pump: 2 ½ ½ dress gaskets, a ½ and metal spigot (to know when the water is coming and to be able to turn on the pump safely), a large Teflon roll, a ½ T, a ½ nipple of 10 cm and galvanized, two ½ elbows and four meters of ½ plastic pipe (sold was the six meters).
In addition, when the pump was installed, a metal stopcock had to be purchased (the one at the water intake was very old and broke), a check valve to prevent the water from flowing back from the tank, and a ¾" gasket to replace the pipe that supplies water to the tank, since it was also very worn and had to be replaced for greater safety and less risk of water spills.
The installation was a relatively simple procedure. A connection of the pipe that was purchased was placed at the inlet and outlet of the pump. It was then installed at the water intake, next to the check valve at the pump outlet. That was the whole procedure. Of course, whoever installed it, made the connections of the pump inlet and outlet pipes, to attach them to the pipe that supplies water to the house and the tank.
Hace una semana, se hizo la instalación en nuestra casa. Se utilizaron los siguientes materiales, además de la bomba: 2 juntas dress de ½, una llave de chorro de ½ y de metal (para saber cuando está llegando el agua y poder encender la bomba con seguridad), un rollo de teflón grande, una T de ½, un niple de ½ de 10 cm y galvanizado, dos codos de ½ y cuatro metros de tubo de ½ plástico (vendían era el de seis metros).
Además, adicionalmente, cuando estuvo instalada la bomba, se tuvo que comprar una llave de paso de metal (la que había en la toma de agua estaba muy vieja y se rompió), una válvula check para que no se devolviera el agua del tanque y una junta dress de ¾, para cambiar en la tubería que surte el agua al tanque pues, también estaba muy gastada y hubo que sustituirla para más seguridad y menos riesgo de botes de agua.
La instalación fue relativamente un procedimiento sencillo. Se colocó una conexión del tubo que se compró, en la entrada y la salida de la bomba. Luego se instaló en la toma de agua, junto a la válvula check en la salida de la bomba. Eso fue todo el procedimiento. Por supuesto, quien lo instaló, hizo las conexiones de los tubos de entrada y salida de la bomba, para acoplarlos a la tubería que surte el agua a la casa y al tanque.
The electrical installation to make it work was made provisionally with a cable extension from the pump and is plugged into an outlet of the house outside, every time it is going to be used. This was done because the water intake is on the outside of the house and there are no outlets nearby. Later on, an adaptation will be made with a breaker type suiche, directly from the electrical outlet of the house, but that will be another more detailed work.
The truth is that everything was very well installed and fully functional. Now, every time the water arrives, we can fill our tank to our satisfaction, and more frequently, even when the service does not arrive daily, there is more opportunity to supply water directly to the tank when it is emptying.
La instalación eléctrica para hacerla funcionar, se hizo provisionalmente con una extensión de cable desde la bomba y se enchufa en un tomacorriente de la casa afuera, cada vez que se va a utilizar. Esto se hizo así pues, la toma de agua queda en la parte externa de la casa y no tiene tomacorrientes cercanos. Luego, más adelante, se hará una adaptación con un suiche tipo brecker, directamente de la toma de electricidad de la casa, pero eso ya será otro trabajo más detallado.
Lo cierto es que quedó todo muy bien instalado y funcionando a plenitud. Ya, cada vez que llega el agua, podemos llenar nuestro tanque a satisfacción y con más frecuencia, aun cuando el servicio no llega a diario, hay más oportunidad de surtir directamente del agua al tanque cuando se va vaciando.
Improving our quality of life, relying on household appliances, to solve our shortcomings and acquire comfort to the fullest, is a goal that we should aim at all times. Stability and comfort, as well as the solution to our problems to live better, must be our main goal.
I am very happy to have been able to install my pump and thus be able to enjoy a better quality of life in terms of water service. I must emphasize that this publication is told from my experience as a user, which is why I do not handle much technical language but rather the details of the procedure in my way as a user.
