September 2020, my brother and I had planned to visit his fiancee, she knew we were coming to visit her so she would have prepared some meal and drinks for her fiance and me.
The reason we were going to visit her was because it was her birthday the next day, so my brother wanted to visit her and take her out to celebrate her birthday the next day. They have been dating for several years and have started planning marriage, which both parents already know about.
My brother has had everything planned, he planned to take her to a very nice restaurant and beach, she stays at Osun state while me and my brother stayed in Lagos State. The road isn't good, and tjt journey will definitely be a long and rough one, so we planned to go in a small yellow mini bus.
When it was Sunday morning, my brother and I were ready to go, my brother decided to take the mini bus, we spent a few minutes getting ready and off the road we went. The journey was about a 5 hour journey, we left the house 11:00 am, so we were supposed to get there around 4:00pm.
Around 2:00pm when we had almost covered half of the journey, the car brake started misbehaving. Since the journey is still far we keep on managing it, then the unexpected happen the break fails completely and my brother almost hit a big pile, but thank God for the hand break.
Then we get down from the mini bus, pushed the car to the road side and my brother tried to see the problem of the car brake, took out the tools including the wheel spanner and unlock the nut, remove the tyre and checked the break pad, he couldn't figure out how to properly check it, he try for several minutes, after he hss spent about 30 minutes but didn't figured it out, so we were forced to call a mechanic. Remember we are in the middle of the road, locating mechanic isn't that easy, then my brother said he has a mechanic friend close to that area we are in, he took out his phone and dialed his number. He explained the situation to him, after several explanation the mechanic said he wants video call to see the situation of the bus, so my brother called him on video call, later the mechanic sent his work boy over to check the bus, we waited for 15 before the work boy arrived, he checked the vehicle, he discovered that the technical fault can't be done unless he tolls the mini bus to the workshop to finish up some things.
My brother called his boss (The mechanic), and explained what his work boy said. Then he gave the phone to the work boy go to speak to his boss, after several discussion and explanation. The boss also said we have no choice than to toll the bus down to their workshop. It was Sunday, tolling company were off, we are left with no choice than to leave the bus and come the next day. We put the red triangle sign (a traffic sign for a damaged vehicles), then lock the doors of the bus. My brother discussed somethings with the mechanic's work boy they shook hand and he left. Through Google map we located the nearest hotel, so me and my brother had to lodge in a hotel to pass the night, he called his fiancee to explain what happened. Then the next day, the mechanic had gotten the vehicle tolled and got it fixed, so we drove to fiancee place and celebrated her birthday.
Conclusion
It was one of the best and unforgettable traveling experience, my brother trying to fix the bus, calling the mechanic, then the mechanic sending his work boy over to check it.
