Hello, greetings to all the users of the Hive Motors community. I introduce myself with my first post here.
Mi nombre es Erick Carvajal y soy de Venezuela 🇻🇪. El día de hoy les vengo a contar un poco sobre mi primera moto. Recién la he comprado, es una moto usada marca Empire Keeway. Por acá les dejo la ficha técnica:

Pero antes un poco de historia sobre como empezó mi gusto por manejar.

Mi gusto por los carros comenzó a muy temprana edad, gracias a que en la casa donde me crie se preocuparon siempre por tener varios 😊.
My love for cars started at a very early age, thanks to the fact that in the house where I grew up they always cared about having several 😊.
Desde pequeño,salía con mi primo y gracias a el pude manejar los carros de la casa: Malibu Clásico, Chevrolet Silverado y luego más adelante por mi cuenta Fiat UNO, Bronco, Volkswagen, Corolla New Sensation, Corolla Baby Camrry, Camrry Lumiere y Terios.
Since I was a child, I used to go out with my cousin and thanks to him I was able to drive the cars of the house: Malibu Classic, Chevrolet Silverado and later on my own Fiat UNO, Bronco, Volkswagen, Corolla New Sensation, Corolla Baby Camrry, Camrry Lumiere and Terios.
Con el tiempo descubrí que manejar es algo relajante para mí, puedo estar bajo estress, salir a dar una vuelta y regresar como si nada (no importa si voy solo o acompañado, simplemente me gusta).
Over time I discovered that driving is something relaxing for me, I can be under stress, go out for a drive and come back as if nothing happened (no matter if I go alone or accompanied, I just like it).
A pesar de mi gusto por manejar, nunca he podido tener un carro propio, solo manejar los de la familia, entre otros.
Despite my love for driving, I have never been able to own a car, only drive family cars, among others.
Para cuando era un adolescente lo único que podía tener y costear era una bicicleta, cosa que también se convertiría en una de mis pasiones. Andar en dos ruedas, hacer caballito por una avenida completa y saltar muros, banquitos y cuanto obstáculo encontara, fue algo que me cautivó (los deportes extremo son lo mío).
By the time I was a teenager the only thing I could own and afford was a bicycle, which would also become one of my passions. Riding on two wheels, riding a wheelie down an entire avenue and jumping over walls, benches and any obstacle I could find, was something that captivated me (extreme sports are my thing).
Por cosas de la vida, para poder costear un viaje a una isla turística junto a mi novia del momento, me tocó desprenderme de la bicicleta que tanto me había costado armar y la vendí... 😒
As life happens, in order to pay for a trip to a tourist island with my girlfriend of the moment, I had to get rid of the bike that I had worked so hard to build and I sold it...😒
Luego de eso siempre quise volver a tener una. Para el tiempo que hice la venta un nuevo vecino de nacionalidad colombiana tenía una pequeña moto manual, pero que no necesitaba croche, gracias a la amistad que teníamos esa fue una de las primeras motos en manejar y desde ahí surgió otra gran pasión casi igual al de las bicicletas o los carros.
After that I always wanted to have one again. By the time I made the sale a new neighbor of Colombian nationality had a small manual motorcycle, but did not need croche, thanks to the friendship we had that was one of the first bikes to drive and from there came another great passion almost equal to that of bicycles or cars.
Lo mismo pasaba con otras amistades. No sé cómo, quizás era mi cara al manejar, pero siempre que tenían un tiempo venían hasta mi casa y me las prestaban (Yamaha 125cc, Bera 150cc, Yamaha 600cc).
The same thing happened with other friends. I don't know how, maybe it was my face when driving, but whenever they had some time they would come to my house and lend them to me (Yamaha 125cc, Bera 150cc, Yamaha 600cc).
Intentos y fracasos | Attempts and failures
Hasta el día ayer solo había tenido la oportunidad de comprar una moto 2 veces en la vida, pero no había podido concretar:
- La primera vez sería un regalo de parte de mi mamá.
- La segunda con dinero que había podido reunir.
Until yesterday, I had only had the opportunity to buy a motorcycle 2 times in my life, but I had not been able to make it happen:
- The first time it would be a gift from my mom.
- The second time with money I had been able to raise.

El año pasado por cosas de la vida me inicié en algunos proyectos de Blockchain y entre esos, fui el ganador de un Airdrop por un valor de $1.000 en BTC aproximadamente y con eso me fui a buscar mi primera moto.
Last year, because of life things I started in some Blockchain projects and among those, I was the winner of an Airdrop worth $1,000 in BTC approximately and with that I went to look for my first motorcycle.
Quería una nueva de concesionario, pero según la experiencia de algunos amigos para el presupuesto que tenía de unos $1.400 no era buena idea invertir en una de las motos nuevas que están saliendo para la marca Bera o Empire porque son casi desechables (la Bera SBR por ejemplo 😂).
I wanted a new one from dealer, but according to the experience of some friends for the budget I had of about $1,400 it was not a good idea to invest in one of the new bikes that are coming out for the Bera or Empire brand because they are almost disposable (The Bera SBR for example 😂).
Primero no le di mucho crédito a la idea, pero no solo fue una persona, sino varias las que me dieron el mismo consejo:
"Compra una moto que sea duradera, no importa que sea modelo viejo, será tu primera moto, una moto comercial que luego podrás vender para buscar una de mayor cilindrada".
At first I didn't give much credence to the idea, but it wasn't just one person, but several who gave me the same advice:
"Buy a bike that will be durable, it doesn't matter if it's an older model, it will be your first bike, a commercial bike that you can later sell to look for a larger displacement bike."
Buscando una moto en buen estado | Looking for a motorcycle in good condition
El tema de la compra/venta de carros o motos usadas en Venezuela es medio complejo. En mi ciudad no existen negocios tipo autosales en el que puedas ir de forma segura y elegir lo que quieres y listo (por cierto me suena la idea de tener un negocio así).
The issue of buying/selling used cars or motorcycles in Venezuela is quite complex. In my city there are no auto stores where you can go safely and choose what you want and that's it (by the way, the idea of having a business like that sounds familiar).
Entonces, para buscar algunas ofertas, muchas personas se valen de Facebook específicamente de la función de Market Place (un lugar peligroso en el abundan los estafadores y delincuentes 🤣). Digamos que como comprador hay que tomar ciertas precauciones al elegir entre tantas ofertas.
So to look for some offers, many people use Facebook specifically the Market Place function (a dangerous place where scammers and criminals abound 🤣). Let's just say that as a buyer you have to take certain precautions when choosing among so many offers.
Estas son algunas:
- Perfil de la persona que publica el producto.
- Información que ofrecen sobre el producto.
- Precio y alternativas de pago.
- Lugar de encuentro.
Here are some of them:
- Profile of the person who publishes the product.
- Information offered about the product.
- Price and payment alternatives.
- Meeting place.
Diría que alternativas de pago y lugar de encuentro son bien importantes (si consigues a alguien que acepta **Binance** por ejemplo, minimizas el riesgo de ir con el dinero en efectivo).
I would say that payment alternatives and meeting place are very important (if you get someone who accepts Binance for example, you minimize the risk of going with cash).
Buscar en Market Place es casi como pescar en río revuelto.
Searching in Market Place is almost like fishing in troubled waters.
Puedes hacer una búsqueda rápida con la palabra clave moto y luego ir poco a poco descartando ofertas, en mi caso conseguí unas 5 motos de las cuales solo me quedaron 2 para ver en persona (por suerte la primera que vi fue mi elección).
You can do a quick search with the keyword moto and then go little by little discarding offers, in my case I got about 5 bikes of which I only had 2 left to see in person (luckily the first one I saw was my choice).

Antes de ir por alguna moto, tenía que hacer el trámite de mi licencia. Entonces inicié el procedimiento vía online (también comprar gasolina, pero ese si es un procedimiento oscuro aquí 😂🤣).
Before I went to get a motorcycle, I had to get my license. So I started the procedure via online (also buy gasoline but that's an obscure procedure here 😂🤣).
Me puse en contacto con una persona de confianza que me ayudaría a revisar la moto y fui al sitio acordado. Luego de verla y hablar con el vendedor, la persona que me acompaño me dio la luz verde para comprarla, entonces iniciamos el proceso para hacer el traspaso a mi nombre y hacer la entrega del dinero por la moto.
I contacted a trusted person who would help me check the bike and went to the agreed place. After seeing it and talking to the seller, the person who accompanied me gave me the green light to buy it, then we started the process to make the transfer to my name and deliver the money for the bike.
Al momento que estoy escribiendo esto, solo la he manejado unas 3 veces porque otro detalle que me falta es el casco 😅 (el dueño tenía uno, pero no lo acepte, no me gustaba).
At the time I'm writing this, I've only ridden it about 3 times because another detail I'm missing is the helmet 😅 (the owner had one, but I didn't accept it, I didn't like it).
Así que lo próximo es ir a ver los modelos y elegir.
So the next thing is to go look at the models and choose.
Por ahora solo la he lavado, le puse gasolina, y luego pasando el rato hice un video que les dejo a continuación:
