En el avatar de la vida siempre nos suceden algunas cosas que siempre nos deja alguna enseñanza, y sobre todo cuando de vehículos se trata, ya que quienes tenemos la oportunidad de tener uno, la calidad de vida siempre mejora y va increcendo.
Pero como todo lo que está hecho por el ser humano con materiales que se desgastan y tiene una vida útil determinada, debemos siempre estar atentos a esa extensión de nosotros que llamamos carro.

En esta ocasión, para salir de viaje revise absolutamente todo, puesto que la camioneta estaba presentando una falla de combustión que ameritaba le prestara atención, y antes de suponer cosas, decidí llevarla a un especialista en Toyotas para que me diera su opinión sobre lo que estaba sucediendo.
Vale decir que tengo desde hace 3 ½ años una camioneta Fortuner 2007, que adquirí en condiciones de mal estado por maltrato del dueño anterior, por lo que poco a poco fui invirtiendo para ponerla al 100%.
On this occasion, to go on a trip I checked absolutely everything, since the truck was presenting a combustion failure that deserved attention, and before assuming things, I decided to take it to a specialist in Toyotas to give me his opinion on what was happening.
It is worth saying that I have had a 2007 Fortuner van for 3 ½ years, which I acquired in poor condition due to mistreatment by the previous owner, so little by little I was investing to bring it to 100%.
Pues bien… lo primero que hizo el amigo especialista fue colocarle un aparato (tester) conectado por un cable a la computadora de la camioneta, la probamos con el vehículo encendido y en pare, luego la probamos en una autopista donde presento una falla en uno de los sensores de oxígeno, mostrando físicamente su falla en el exceso consumo de gasolina, botaba mucho humo negro por la mala combustión, por la lectura que el sensor hacía, indicándole a la computadora del carro que no existía una buena mezcla de oxígeno y combustible, dando como resultado la quema de más gasolina de lo debido.
Ahora bien, para la comprensión de mis amigos, este tipo de vehículos con motor 4.0 de 6 cilindros, cuenta con muchos sensores que se conectan y emiten señales hacia la computadora, indicándole cual es la situación del carro apenas lo encendemos.
La camioneta tiene 4 dispositivos (sensores de oxígeno) colocados en ambos tubos de escape, dos por cada lado, y que se llaman de acuerdo a su posición banco 1 o banco 2, cuando el tester escaneo, nos arrojó sensor 1 Banco 1, que traducido al que no sabe de mecánica ni electricidad electromotriz, como yo, decía que estaba dañado el sensor superior del lado del copiloto.
Well ... the first thing the specialist friend did was to place a device (tester) connected by a cable to the computer of the truck, we tested it with the vehicle on and stopped, then we tested it on a highway where it presented a failure in one of the oxygen sensors, physically showing its failure in the excess fuel consumption, it was throwing a lot of black smoke by poor combustion, by the reading that the sensor made, indicating to the computer of the car that there was not a good mixture of oxygen and fuel, resulting in the burning of more gasoline than it should.
Now, for the understanding of my friends, this type of vehicles with 4.0 6-cylinder engine, has many sensors that are connected and emit signals to the computer, indicating which is the situation of the car as soon as we start it.
The van has 4 devices (oxygen sensors) placed in both exhaust pipes, two on each side, and they are called according to their position bank 1 or bank 2, when the tester scan, it gave us sensor 1 Bank 1, which translated to those who do not know about mechanics or electromotive electricity, like me, said that the upper sensor on the passenger side was damaged.
Inicie mi búsqueda y no encontré cerca de mi residencia el repuesto para sustituirlo, así que le pregunte al amigo mecánico si esa falla me iba a impedir viajar, a lo que me indico que no, por lo que al otro día salí de viaje para la tierra de mis raíces, la ciudad de Mérida a recibir el nuevo año.
Estando en Mérida, me ocupe en buscar el sensor, contando con la venturosa suerte de encontrarlo. Así que me dispuse a buscar las herramientas y a cambiarlo ya que era sencillo su sustitución, según mi apreciación…
Para sorpresa mía, al empezar con la llave 7/8, la posición de dicho sensor era incomodísima!!!

Being in Merida, I was busy looking for the sensor, counting with the fortunate luck of finding it. So I set out to look for the tools and to change it, since it was easy to replace, according to my appreciation...
To my surprise, when I started with the 7/8 wrench, the position of the sensor was very uncomfortable!!!!
Además de estar bien apretado, me hizo sudar la gota gorda como dicen por ahí!
Con maña y fuerza logre desconectar el sensor que estaba en el multiple del tubo de escape.
Luego coloque el nuevo sensor y listo… al probar la camioneta observe que disminuyó notablemente el humo negro que desprendía cuando estaba en movimiento, sin embargo aún persistía una falla en el sistema de combustión, por lo que ya podía suponer que posiblemente estaban fallando algunas de las bujías. Pero esto lo expondré en otro post.

Then I placed the new sensor and ready... when I tested the truck I noticed that the black smoke that came out when it was moving decreased significantly, however there was still a fault in the combustion system, so I could already assume that possibly some of the spark plugs were failing. But this I will expose in another post.
