Today I am doing this post not only for the @qurator contest vintage photography but in honor and in loving memory of my awesome Dad, born 24th August, 1929 pass away gracefully on the 23rd December, 2008. Today marks thirteen years ago since my beloved Dad left this Earth to enter the Holy Gates of Heaven and there isn't a day that goes by that, I miss my Dad you were my mentor and are forever in my heart ♥️♥️

My Dad was born in Italy in a small town called Guardia Sanframondi, which is in the province of Benevento, Italy there he was raised by his parents on a vineyard and olive farm, after been called up for World War II fought and severed in World War II, he made it home safely and decided to get married not long after.
My Dad was one who always thought and planned ahead and he knew that the village life was never going to sustain a proper life or education for his kids he was a hard worker, from the time he got married he had 4 kids all in the space of within 18 months apart 3 boys and 1 girl, myself and another 2 brothers were still in the mix not born yet.

In 1961 my Dad got invited by his brother-in-law who was already in Australia, to go to the land of opportunities Sydney, Australia and my Dad was determinate to go knowing that, this was the opportunity to give his kids a better life and education, he boarded a huge cruise liner ship taking him one month to reach the shores of Australia, on arrival he commenced work with his brother-in-law and sister in the fruit market business after 2 years of solid hard work doing two jobs working day and night, my Dad had finally raised enough monies to call my mum, his three sons and daughter to Australia they also all boarded the big cruise liner ship and after a month they were all reunited in the land of downunder as they call it these days.

Life was tough in Australia for my Dad trying to care for the family but he was a strong man never giving up working two jobs night and day and on top of that he had added another 3 boys to the family, I was the last to be born in Sydney, Australia. As a big family we all worked as a team my Dad eventually bought his own fruit market and we all helped out as Italian families do making us a tough solid organization running a huge successful fruit market business and life was getting better by the day in Australia.

It wasn't all easy for my Dad he definitely had a lot on his plate but he had all of us and as an Italian family we rode the bad with the good and eventually my Dad was able to buy the first house that we could call home and we were all proud having our own home not having to rely on or living with other family members. We had come a long way admittedly we did not have much of a social life with friends as youngsters but survival was more important at the time and we didn't mind as huge benefits came to us later in life.

Today because of my Dad's determination and courage to leave his home country and go to another country that he had no idea what the future was going to bring to him, made me who I am today following his footsteps he was my mentor, my trusted adviser, my friend, and my awesome Dad. I miss you so much Dad you have a wonderful Heavenly Christmas Dad till we meet again you will be always in my heart ♥️♥️
