For a long time, I've avoided cool colors because I thought I'd look weird in them and warm looks good on me. I think the last time I've worn a blue eyeshadow was when I was a kid during one of my moving up ceremonies in school haha but also it's not like I wore any makeup before anyway. And if I do, it would be something warm - either brown, peach, and maybe pink.
@Oceanbee had mentioned the blue eyeshadow would look good on me because of my brown eyes and I agree. I also read somewhere that it would also look good with my skin color so I really had to try. Although in this look I chose to wear a gray contact lenses since I'm going for the smokey look.
Since I wanted to try a blue eyeshadow, I looked for a palette that has the colors blue but also maybe something else too. I found this Colourpop Aurora Struck palette and I fell in love with it. It has all the colors that I want and need - blues, grays, greens, violets, and pinks. A lot of reviews say this is the best Colourpop eyeshadow palette and I agree. A lot of their palettes have similar colors and this has the most variety I would say.
I started with something dark cool brown as a transition shade.
Then a cool blue as the main color. I did film this the second time since I made a mistake of using a brush with a previous violet color the first time. I didn't see the eyeshadow there since the brush was black haha.
I then had to wipe them all off and didn't put a primer next time. This is why you can see the eyeshadow is quite patchy and the eyelids were dry. I checked the first footage and it was actually good with a primer haha.
Then I used the light blue for the inner corner. I love that it's so powdery. Creamy too I would say? As you can see, the light blue is so opaque than despite it being light, it showed up really well. It was so easy to use.
Then I used the darkest matte blue on the outer lids. I had to blend the outer lid and the transition shade with a clean brush too. If I prepared my eyelids well, this would be an easy task.
Then time for the glitters!
I used micellar water on q tips to wipe off the edge so I can make a sharp line.
Then I applied the rest of the makeup. Foundation, bronzer, contour, mascara.
For the blush and lip color, I used a light one so the eyes and lips won't clash.
Here's the finished look! I really love this look and this certainly won't be the last that I'm wearing this. The blue really looks good on me and I'm really feeling it lol. It's just also great timing that the shade of blue works for me too.
It's giving early 2000s R&B music videos haha both with the shot and makeup.
I love it and I certainly would use more cool toned eyeshadows next time!
